My dad is 63 and he goes swimming quite a lot he's really fit for his age. At the local pool there is a group or people who take it all seriously and do say 10 lengths and then stand and chat about the best ways to swim (my dad hates them, he just plows up and down slowly and ungracefully for 50 lengths) and all this and my old pa just drags hinself through the water with a horrible stroke and a huge bow-wave.
One of our Polish friends is a quite heavy guy maybe 45-50 called Bartek came to visit us once. This little "group" were in attendance doing the usual and started looking over and sneering at this fat guy joining my dad.
Well Bartek just flew past all these people in this group all of them stunned to be outdone by some fat old guy. Perhaps it was because in is day he represented Germany at the Olympics. :p (Dunno why he represented them rather than Poland, but would have been a good while go)
His comment on my dads swimming was diplomatic "I don't know how you have so much energy Alister, I could never swim the way you do." Hahaha code for :wtf: is that. :D |

| My dad swims more than me these days, . He swims practically every morning and hangs out with the other old dudes. More power to him, honestly, I wish I had the initiative to go every day and swim. I would probably work a lot harder tho :o |

um... didn't you say yourself that you're to swim from one end to the other without stopping? well that's what you have to do.
don't stop
hit the swimming pool a few times before the class starts if you think it would help you to be more comfortable in the water. don't worry about training or anything like that.
once you start going, don't stop. keep going no matter how bad your lungs might hurt. it's just the beginning :)

your help on this subject would be greatly appreciated (posted in the Guys stuff thread because I'm looking for hair product suggestions and pics of swimwear, but i thought it was also highly relevant to this thread):
