I just always think of girls that I've known who take interest in a dude, and all of the sudden they like all the same music he likes, or happen to be into all the same hobbies, etc. What's that Depeche Mode song it reminds me of? Oh right...

Nono, see, when you have a bad personal experience with a person who exhibits particular traits, ALL people who exhibit those traits are exactly like that person and will hurt you just the same. You see, Cosmopolitan-style laundry lists of what to look for in a partner as well as an up-to-date appendix of red flags are what love is really about. I mean, never-mind the insanity and the panic and the passion of meeting and getting to know somebody who is diametrically opposed to your way of life, that sort of thing was invented for movies and books and media, it couldn't possibly be the result of writers and actors and visionaries whose lives have been irreversibly altered by their experiences and relationships; especially not to the point where they would be spurred with creativity to the point where they are remiss to keep it to themselves.
You see, love - true love, I mean - is the result of hard work. Committment. Trust. Never, ever doubting the other person's resolve or difference for even a moment. It's why the happiest people on Earth are the ones who choose to be with somebody exactly like themselves. It's easier that way, and life ceases to be an endless chain of desire and suffering. |
