New synth that doesn't sound as thin as Thor can at times.

Thor is among the fattest synths I've heard ever, as far as virtual analog goes (including hardware)
Here's my feature list I recently posted:
Track grouping/folder tracks: ableton live 8 introduces them, cubase has them since a while, they make arrangement easier.
Decent piano roll: the thickness of the vertical lines should have been subdivided per bar AND per measure. Preview when clicking a note and moving a note.
Drag n drop combinator programming: imagine pressing the program button on combinator and drag n drop all necessary parameters off the devices on the 4 combi rotaries and buttons.
Customizable keys speak for itself.
DUAL/QUAD CORE SUPPORT!
FX additions:
An audio gate !! They have one on the RV7000, why isnt there one just as a simple effect?
An extended phaser.
A tape delay.
These would for me be the best improvements for an already GREAT program. |

Thor falls short with the lack of a unison mode. But it's a great synth.
My wishlist is this:
- Unison mode for the Combinator. You would be able to make devices inside play in unison, with three assignable spread controls (detune, filter, pan etc). The controls would be on the back or on a pop up.
- Better EQ
- Better compressor, maybe a vintage emulation comp
- Better phaser and chorus
- A loop slicer (similar to recycle)
- Implement the Rebirth devices.
- More sequencer features, like the ability to move notes with the keyboard arrow buttons. A chord/note analyser, note preview and more.
- The ability to swap the shift/ctrl/alt functions. It's annoying when Cubase has alt for copying and reason has ctrl. |

Devices
Decent & accurate frequency analyzer
Effects
High Pass filter device & generally better filters. Something like whats in Thor but on its own.
Revamp of the delay device or introduce a new one with more features. Something like what they did for reverb with RV7000.
Better flanger, phaser & chorus with more algorithms.
Better EQ
Perhaps they could combine all of the above into one great effect device like camelphat.
Arrangement & workflow
Better window arrangement particularly for multi-screen with wide resolution. If the rack itself (not only the sequencer) could be split horizontally and the devices resizeable so that you could fit much more on the screen that would be great. Long racks are painful to work with.
Quicker scrolling when wiring instruments. At present if you have a long rack and want to wire a device from the bottom to the top the scrolling is painfully slow although I haven't checked if this can be adjusted. Sure you can move devices around but its a mission.
Allow you to activate and play back a device by clicking on it in the rack rather than selecting in the sequencer.
Automated chord mapping so you can select the type of chord you want (i.e. major, minor, 7th etc) then within the sequencer pencil in one note which automatically pencils in the rest of the notes of the chord. This would be great for people learning music but also for conveniance.
Better cable management, like when you click on cable it highlights the cable so it is easy distinguishable amongst the others. |

I don't think audio recording will ever be a possibility with reason.
That would make it an inferior cubase.
The only thing they could consider doing is spending some serious time creating a new mixer module modeled of the ssl 4048 console with build in eq and compression on each channel.
It should also visually look like that and we want the sequencer window to be resized to accommodate it.
That would really lift the program increase sales and help propelerheads make more money. |

thats ing a good idea, good call, that would be simply awesome. hopefully also being able to sequence the 303 abit better than the step sequencer lol. |

how about this: get into the f*cking 21. century with some audio inputs and VST plugins... I mean, seriously, what the f*ck, Propellerheads?!
oh and for you die-hard Reason users: did you know there is this green field just on the other side of the mountain, filled with awesome synthesizers and plugins, some of them are even free! Why limit yourself to a set of (mildly crappy) tools that have been overused so much there is even a phrase to refer to it, "that Reason sound" ??
anyways, bitch all you want but I'm not answering, that's just my honest opinion and now I shut my mouth... |

| It wouldn't make sense to enable VST use in Reason because the whole idea of Reason is being able to manipulate the rack of synths, effects, and cables. This won't work very well unless each synth and FX unit is programmed by Propellerhead. |

Reason needs to be priced better if it's considered a standalone instrument. Propellerheads once said if you want vst, midi or other DAW tools then just re-wire Reason into a DAW.
My point is, why the hell would I want to buy Reason if I already owned a DAW? Most decent DAWs only cost a couple hundred more than Reason and are usually bundled with their own collection of synths, fx and other stuff.
So, Reason needs to either be better self-contained (ie plugin support, audio tools and full midi) or priced more competitively. |
