By 'skill' i basically meant the craftsmanship of using ur ears to cue and beatmatch correctly, theres obviosuly much more to DJing than just that, which actually is my very point.... Why hate on laptop DJs?
a laptop can emulate exactly what a cdj or tt does and can do much more than just that, so if anything they only open new opporutnities for DJs, why the constant ridicule? |

because thinking that you can produce quality music on-the-fly is a big FAIL

| ok, but a laptop doesnt have to do be used for THAT, it can be used just to spin same way a cdj can and... costs about as much as an mk3... |

We will always have vinyl. But the digital side of things (CDs) will be a dead format in the next 5 years. Same fate awaits DVD/Blu-Ray. Everything will go to hard drives and downloads.
Djs and true music connoisseurs will never let companies stop producing vinyl versions though. |
I'm not sure I think you will always need something physical for DJing, probably not video and theres so many CD models being produced, maybe in the far future. |

Not really....
And I'd much rather be putting vinyls in the turntables, or CD's in a cdj rather than clicking around on the computer...
Doesnt seem as fun |

^^^^Moron!
There is no such thing as a purist in these days any longer. Just idiots. This is coming from someone who does NOT use ableton or traktor, etc.
man let people make what they want how they want to make it and gtfo.
You don't have to use it or whatever but stop being a ing hater you ignorant bastard
Everything is not black and white and believe it or not some people will believe differently than you on things in life. There is no right thing to do in music. The result is the only thing that matters. |

i agree. If you make the end result amazing. Who cares how you did it. I definitely have more respect for somebody who beat matches without the sync etc. they obviously have more skills. If i had the money and space i would get Pioneer CDJs in a heartbeat. However, I am stuck with a Xponent, Torq, and the Macbook Pro... |

| beatmatching is like learning to ride a bike tho. once you know it, you might as well be using a "sync" button, whats the difference |

So lets say you learn how to drive a car. you love it and get really good at it. If you have access to a chauffeur, aka sync button, are you going give up driving because there is an easier way?
Anybody who can beatmatch can hit a sync button. Somebody who can't beatmatch can only hit a sync button.
I have more respect for somebody who is working harder to accomplish a task. Its more fun and makes it more challenging. That's the difference! |
