I'm curious if anyone has noticed any strange latency issues in Ableton whilst trying to record and monitor say... a vocal... at the same time

interestingly enough i have none of the same problems in Logic with the same setup (and yes, i did fiddle a LOT with all the settings for that in ableton)

curious if its because im running bootcamp and ableton 7 is on my windows OS on my mac pro... but again, NONE of these issues in Logic... and the computer is only a few months old and everything is freshly installed

I have heard a lot of interesting feedback about vocal sound quality in ableton and as a former cubase user (until a few weeks ago) i definitely didnt want to record vox in ableton...

seems its just.. more like watercolor rather than precision ink on paper kinda concept... brilliant for sketching ideas and performing live on the fly, but perhaps not the tool really for producing best quality material

i work mostly in logic but know ableton pretty well and was more comfortable with warping in there, so i recorded all the sampled parts into ableton and warped and pitched them (using complex mode) straight in live.
when I was 90% done with the project and after noticing the samples had that trademark warp distortion (especially on the highs) etc. I decided to just take those same parts and redo them straight in logic to see if there was a difference.
Let me tell you, after doing this, the samples right away sounded 100% better and instantly fit in the mix much better as well.
Hopefully with 8 when they start using the 'pro' warp algorithm this issue will be cleared up, but for now im just sticking with logic.

never use complex mode unless you want to purposely ruin the sound!

ableton's great, but the more you know what you're doing the better the result that comes out of it will be.

why is your ableton live on windows and not on mac?? it's cross-platform, so you can install it on both platforms.

Running apps in virtual machines is never the best option but I don't understand why you want to record AND monitor the same audio simultaneously. It's like if I were trying to record myself talking and wanting to hear it precisely although I'll never do since I'm talking over the recorded audio:conf:
