Fm8, I'm pretty sure. Since the DX7 converters are trash and I think earlier models only ran at 12 bit. not sure about the sample rate. |
mmmm 12 bits and low sample rate yum |

FM Synthesis must be the most amazing thing ever...
I mean , with it you can get
Aggressive bass ,
High pitched sines that sounds like bells..
"Electric" Guitars....
Pads..(Even thou I havent created a Pad with FM thou)
and even more aggressive bass ;)
FM must be the reason why I use Z3ta+ so much.. |

I agree.
In an effort to expand my options of software synthesis, I decided to purchase the LinPlug Octopus, a FM VSTi, earlier this week.
I have been utterly impressed with sounds that FM synthesis is able to create in the hands of a competent programmer (which is not me, by the way). Now I regret waiting so long to join the ranks of FM users. |

Out of curiosity, have you ever worked with a Yamaha FS1R? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I've wanted one for a long time, but I've been hesitant to buy one because I'm just not sure that I'd get much programming use out of it. |
Quoting myself, yeah, I know.
Anyway, after being out-bid on several FS1Rs, each of which sold for $750+, over the past few months, I finally timed one just right - I got one that looks brand new (not even a drop of rack rash) for under $600 with BIN. Anyway, this thing is a monster synth and is widely regarded as the ultimate FM hardware synth, so I'm looking forward to getting under the hood with it. This thread will be very helpful. |
