Yes, really. They're made electronically (mostly), and made to work on dance floors. EDM.

I know you want to classify them differently because you don't like them, but try to put aside your personal tastes for a second and think rationally about this.

True enough, but learning how to use most sequencers on a basic level is actually very easy. I could teach someone how to make a very simple track in Reason or Ableton within a few hours.

It would probably take a long time before they produced something of high quality, but that wasn't the point I was making -- my point was that entry into EDM production is usually a lot easier than entry into non-EDM production, not that it's easier to make high quality stuff.

Off course that won't take much time. But playing something with a xylophone also isn't really difficult.
Many people learned playing an instrument at a young age (I'm not one of those) and play in a orchestra or band. My point was that the amount of people who really start using a pc for production might be much less than people who play instruments and start producing regardless the level.
Also many people won't have a pc with the software or even know how to get it illegal. All this relative to people who play instruments all over the world.
I'm not claiming to be right, but like always things can look different when you look at it from a different point of view.
My old boss has produced some tracks, but never wanted to start using a pc. He preferred his keyboard.

Your "No, but you need to know how to use the program" remark is entirely nugatory with respect to MrJiveBoJingles' statement. It bears zero relevance. None. In fact, judging by the quality of the output of many novice EDM producers (or rather astonishing lack thereof), one may conclude that you don't even need to have any deep knowledge of said "program" to be able to score a release somewhere online, or two.

Stop being stupic, stupic.

"Don't even need to learn to play an instrument...no, but you need to know how to use the program."

The "No" did not have the load you thought it had.

I could have writen:"No, indeed you don't need to learn to play an instrument, but need to know how to use the program."

Regarding the amount of EDM producers IMO it's not how easy it is to start making tracks which counts, but how many people actually do or have done this.

MrJiveBoJingles understood that I guess, as he probably knows I usually reply politely.
