| I take it you didn't get that big government/bank job that you really, REALLY, REALLLLLLLLLLLY thought you would? You know, the one you were SO sure of getting that you created a whole thread about it - before you even knew if you had it? |

People get angry when their pizza isn't delivered in 30 minutes. That's preparation + cook time + delivery time. You would need to have a fast as restaurant to make this work.
Also, I am guessing that any reasonably successful restaurant won't really have a need for this (or to have a private contractor for it) since they probably make most of their money on the weekends which is invariably super packed. I doubt your delivery will give them that much more revenue.
It could work, though. You'd probably better off opening your own restaurant with its own delivery service. |

| I would not pay extra to get food delivered from Macaroni Grill, for example, when they have Curbside To Go... you don't even have to get out of your car. Order, drive, it's ready, go home. |

We already got something like that in our area

edit:
I worked delivering wings (close enough)
1. How many deliveries did you average? depends on the day. Tuesday/wednesday with nothin going on, 45-55 or so, but on a Friday night I've made upwards of 95 deliveries in a 10 hour shift (4pm-2am, probably 50% of those 95 were made after 10pm)
2. How much were you paid and were you paid per delivery or hourly? $5.00 hourly
3. How many miles would you rack up on your car? little over 100 a night or so
4. How much was the average order? $10-25 usually
5. What was your average tip? $2
6. Which days were the busiest? Fridays, Saturdays, sports games
7. Did your employer charge a "delivery fee"? If so, how much? Nope
Be warned, if you live in an area where 'free delivery' is the norm, when you charge a delivery fee lots of people will assume part of that goes to the driver which then they think absolves them from tipping. Its a doable business for sure, but I'd recommend looking into how places like the one I posted above do it. They have a dispatcher with walkie talkies that connect to the drivers so they never have to return to any central location, they go from restaurant to client to the next restaurant, and when the delivery guy enters the restaurant, the staff just gives them the delivery order and he walks out, fast as that. Remember, while you're delivering non-delivery food, people expect it to be delivered just like regular delivery foods, and thats not always in your control.
edit2: talk to drivers in your area. The hours are better around here at delivery express, but other than that there's no reason to work there, I can pull 1.5 times what they make in tips EASY and go through less gas to boot, so with that in mind you gotta find a way to actually attract good drivers. I've never really seen a pay scheme that works for this kinda business tbh. |
