Why did we start that here in T.O? We use to be the RAVE capital of North America in the 90s. All the Americans would fly, drive or even ride their bikes here to attend our 18,000+ events.
Bottle service is pure Miami GINO culture. For all those who ever had bottle service here ... you’re just as guilty as Paris Hilton.
Think about it real hard; your EDM scene is now all about , ass & bottles.
BTW, Paris Hilton and big ups to Steve Angello. |
A BIG +1
Bottle service sucks and leads to serious pretension. How can you have energy on whats left of the dance floor when half the club is standing around trying not to have fun? Its so bad that apparently some bowling allys in toronto have bottle service now?
Save the pretension for snooty "lounges" and give us back our clubs.
Oh and as for paris hilton... if only i had a nickle for everytime ive kicked some annoying biznatch out with the exact same comments.
Classic answer "if its not dancable then how are all those people dancing to it?.. (as i point to the floor)... maybe you need dance lessons?" LOL |

raves have been dead for almost a decade. get over it.
Gino type of people have been around a lot longer than bottle service has. Certain events/clubs are promoted to that type of a crowd. It's always been that way and always will be. |

You don't get the point do you? The fact is being the "rave captial" of North America; we didn't have to follow that direction and evolved into the new era of Ginoness |

It all started with the age of the ban in ontario.
Ontario and Toronto were actually very open minded places up until 99/2000 when the ban-a-thons started. It started with Lastman and chief Fantino and got even worse once the Liberals and Miller came into office. |

Yes and no
The rave protocal kicked in and set an age limited which was much needed. Many time I went to a party and saw 14 yr olds attending these event every weekend.
It all started when the rave protocal got revised in 2001, forcing the promoters to use smaller venues, such as clubs to avoid the high cost of ODPs (1 to every 25 ppl) and using the clubs which most had to be 19+ (due to the restriction of the club owners). Even Charles said " it" to the all age events after the "event" of the last Effective Rave @ the Warehouse with BadBoyBill in 99 |

| bans, restrictions, regulations... same thing in my opinion. Ill never forget Liberal MPP Sandra Pupatello and her hysteria in the ontario legislature back in 2000 about raves and how "violent they can be" |

Unfortunately, we did have to follow direction....thats what Toronto does.
I hate the entire concept of bottle service/VIP areas in a club. These people are not VIPs or specail individuals...they are just people stupid enough to spend $150.00 for a bottle of bad vodka.
edit: stoopid brain no worky on sunday |

Old school VIP was OK.
Usually it was up and beyond anywhere that people could see them and the appeal was "what are they doing in there?". Meanwhile everyone in the normal world had an amazing time. The problem is now that VIP is out in the open everyone gets self concious trying to look cool the the unwashed masses. The unwashed masses respond by trying to look as cool as they do and the whole club falls apart. Also VIP space is encroaching more and more into dancefloor space which is simply not good. |

there might be a half dozen people at Guv who would actually get into a true VIP area...hell old school VIP wasn't just a table and chairs with RESERVED on it....it was a whole room that you had to be invited into....hell it was a whole other party. |
