looks like you found the problem, cracked stuff does not always work such is life.

The software isn't cracked. It doesn't launch unless you have an M-audio product attached just like it should.

Interesting... I also lost my software installation cd and had never registered my product. So I had to get the software off torrents. So i'm not sure if that's the issue either. I must have lost it all when I moved :o

Ah that sucks man. Yeah I definitely wouldn't bet on the torrent being perfect. Are you sure you can't still download the file off M-Audio's website? I'm pretty sure you can.

Edit: Not the timecodes, but the install file I mean.

I checked and it said you needed to be registered in order to download the files. I never registered my hardware so I'm SOL I suppose.

Was wondering what program or device you guys use to record your mixes when using Traktor Scratch Duo? Is there any problems recording the set with the same computer that has Traktor running? I've just been wondering if I should get Duo or Pro. The main selling point for me is the in program recording and the net broadcasting. I really don't want to pay that much more for Pro but if I'm gonna have a hassle recording then I might.

Also, ignore my ignorance, but does the quality of carts matter at all when using Traktor and the encoded vinyl?

i dunno about duo but with my home w/ scratch pro setup i just run the output from my mixer into channels on the audio 8 and record them with this cheap program i have "Acoustica mp3 audio mixer". havent encountered any kind of problems while recording and using traktor.

Curious to know why some people dislike the recording function in traktor pro? Could someone elaborate?

I would like to know as well because I've never used it. Was planning on using it later this week.

i might have a copy of 1.5.1 on my external i'll check for you if you want

also i had the same problem with torq, where the software just stopped working suddenly. i believe it's a driver conflict and you'd pretty much have to re-format your HD and reinstall to get it to work. i ended up just selling my connectiv box instead.

Don't worry lads it's perfectly ok. I've used it to record 9 sets so far and each one is absolutely flawless. Great quality with no distortion or hiss or anything you'd be unhappy about.

Just make sure your levels are correct before recording :) Leave a little head room in case you spike a little (which of course will never happen cause we all keep our eyes on the levels ;))

Have a go let me know what you think.

audacity is your friend!

I was thinking of getting this but I just read on NI's site that Duo doesn't have the ability to record, WTF? :wtf:

I know you can record via Audacity and other programs but I just loved the simplicity of recording my sets in Traktor. This was a deal-breaker for me, so I guess I'll have to wait longer to save some more cash to get Traktor Scratch Pro. Also, I don't like the idea of having only 2 decks. There are a lot of times when I'm practicing at home when I get creative and use 3 decks every now and then. I would really hate to not be able to do that anymore.
