Post WMC Hotel Reviews

I am curious to find out where you stayed, what you thought, and the price range. After 2 years at WMC, havent found a suitable spot yet.

Ocean's Five (Just south of 5th on Ocean Drive)
$225/night
2 queen beds

Fairly quiet, but small. Barely had enough room for 1 person on the floor to put 3 in the room. Close enough to most party spots, a little far from the pool parties etc.. at the Shelbourne. Friendly staff and clean enough. All in all i would say a 3 star place, no more.

Ocean Walk Condominiums
335 Ocean Dr.
1 Queen Bed
1 Couch
Fridge, Microwave, Stove
$100-200/night

I had heard about this place from a few friends who have stayed there in the past. It's an interesting spot because the units are rented by the owners since they're all condos. They are all relatively small from what I understand, with some being studios and others being small 1 bed/1 bath units. I stayed in a studio. Generally the owners don't charge more than $200 per night and I got mine for $100/night. It's not a new building and the grounds are in decent shape at best. My unit was OK, but a little outdated. Many of the condos are updated and those tend to be on the more expensive side. However, they are nice since they have refridgerators, microwaves, stoves, etc, which makes for easy storage of snacks and beverages. My only beef this year was that there was construction going on in the building next door that started at 8:00am. It wasn't terribly loud, but if I was in the room and awake during the construction hours, it was definitely something I noticed. If I were on the other side of the building, I don't think it would have been an issue.

As SeventhSense said, it's a quiet location, but it's a bit of a travel to the pool parties. I didn't mind this so much since the South Beach Local bus runs up and down Washington every 10-15 minutes and it's only $0.25 per ride. Figure 5 minutes' walk to the bus stop, 10 minute wait, 5-10 minute ride (depending on traffic) to Lincoln Rd, and another 5-10 minute walk to the pool. It's no longer a trip than sitting in a taxi and it's much cheaper. There was no need for a car at all.

Chesterfield Hotel
Collins between 8-9th

$300ish/night for nicest room I think.

1 Bed/Queen
1 LONG & wide couch (slept 2 6ft guys easy)
Table w/ 2 chairs; desk with 1 chair
Jacuzzi tub
Hall closet area with sink
Bathroom with shower
Room was modern style with lime green walls and hardwood floors.
30+ inch flat screen mounted on wall
HUGE living space with ample room to sleep many others on the floor.
Fridge

Negatives:
Internet is $15/day but we jacked an unsecured connection from a next door hotel. The room safe also costs money I think.
No stove/microwave

It was in the "Hotel Leon" part of the Chesterfield which are these bungalow-type buildings next to the actual hotel. Walk down some shady pathways to buildings that have 4 rooms downstairs and 4 rooms up. Our upstairs deck had 2 chairs/table, a loveseat; and an attached patio with 4 lounge deck chairs and an umbrella table with 4 chairs.

Bar inside the main lobby with live DJ; another bar in a side building with live DJ... could hear it in the room, but it was fine with us.

Absolutely wonderful stay. Great service. Happy hour free drinks from 7-8pm everyday.

We rented 1 Bdr Condo. Across the walking bride @ Collins and 24th

Nice place owner was great.

Full Kitchen 2 min walk to the beach. Close to Shelborne Surfcomber.

We paid $1200 for the week!

Split 3 ways it was a great deal.

I stayed at the CHELSEA HOTEL on 10th & Washington.

We were pretty close to everything. However, the rooms were small and once nighttime hit, they were dark. Definetely not a place where you can have people sleep on the floor. There's no room for it.

Price was $199 per night.

No complaints from me.
