Woohoo! Best news.
I'm just glad that we're now going to be taken serious and seen as legit by those who complained that we hadn't played the Yanks, Sox, or Rays yet.

Hopefully we sweep the series.

I wouldn't say beating a broken Yanks team with your best pitcher is enough to say the Jays are a legit contender. Lets see how the series plays out between the Yanks and then the series with the Sox before we start riding our high horse.

We've won almost every series, have not lost more than 2 games in a row, have weathered out a Boston 12-game win streak without dropping from the top spot for more than a game, our ace pitcher tops the majors in wins... yeah i would say we are definitely looking like a contender.

The Jays are doing great right now but its still too early to even suggest they will be contenders in August or September.

They've won a lot of games against bad teams.

Baltimore - last in AL EAST
Cleveland - Last in AL CENTRAL
Oakville - last in AL WEST

They have won seven games against teams with above 500 records.
Big Boss
Newsflash: The Jays are good, but not great. This start is due to the weaker teams they have faced.

The pitching staff can't hold up over 162 games. The hitting, while torrid, will not last the whole season. Rios and Wells suck too much and I don't know if Lind and Hill can carry the offense.

This team reminds me of the Arizona Diamondbacks of last year. They started 20 and 8 and finished the season 82 and 80.

Hell, look at the Florida Marlins this year. Great young hitting and pitching staff. They started the season 11 and 1 and since that start, they are 6 and 15.

Now the Jays won't slip like the Marlins, but they will slide.

when they tally up wins to determine the win/loss average and games back... it doesn't care which wins came from better versus worse teams.

the numbers don't discriminate

GO OAKVILLE GO!!!

But they had a stat somewhere yesterday, and it showed that against the teams the Jays have already played, they were .667 against them year...

aka...if we want to do well this year, we just have to do well in our division (which will be tough like usual).

But were off to a good start so far!

your right they don't...but maybe they should. The team looks better then they actually are because they haven't played as many games against above 500 teams.

Toronto will not win the AL East but may contend for the wild card spot because the American League is terrible. The wild card will come out of the AL East and if the Yanks get their together it could be a very interesting race.

the only two teams they need to worry about in the AL east are the Yanks and the Sox....so far they are 1-0.....with how many games left?
