i saw these posted on his page last week
but i decided to keep my mouth shut, cause i dont really have nothing good to say
its deff not the same push, or the same sound..i dont know why he would change that sound on one of the best aliases he had
i mean the push sound via 98 threw 04 was the
only tracks i liked was free time and interference, other then that its not my style or the style iam used to
iam just as much of a m.i.k.e fan as the next person, but when you do a cheesy vocal remake of universal nation with george acosta and try and play it off as something new, iam sorry but i feel like thats a slap in the face to his fans

Unfortunately I don't like what I'm hearing from the samples, I've also been a big M.I.K.E. fan over the years, but this sounds like a change to the wrong direction.

guys, the year is 2009, not 2000 or 2004 anymore.
i like what i hear though, Push with a new twist, agree on the Acosta track!
but i don't judge it yet before i hear it being played out or to hear it in full
we'll see how the club mixes will sound like!

there will be about 8 other new tracks on the album
@ TheOnE: a final conclusion will only be when the album is released, but for now I'm not really a fan of this "Push with a new twist" although some tracks are nice. As I said before, in the past the Push sound stood out from the rest and you could really recognize a Push track. I don't have that impression with these tracks (samples). They sound like something "any other" trance producer could have made, like the Push sound has become more generic.

I'm not a huge fan of Push and some of the two or three tracks that stand out for me were from 99 or 2000.
Im so tired of hearing people saying this doesnt sound like this and that doesnt sound like that anymore. get over it!
obviously sounds won't be the same as 99-2000 because everything in the music industry has changed.
So I dont know why forum geeks bash on eveyrhting that comes out today in the music industry on a forum. lol from house to trance to tech what would you say about spears music etc etc.
Even if an artist is successful, u forum geeks still bash him ..
example: Deadmau5.
i like some of the tracks on the album.
I appreciate music thats needs appreciatin', as hard as it is to please the ear these days

Ref, that was the best thread hijack ever! :D
As far as the album is concerned, I won't make a judgement yet until I hear it in full. I have always been and still am probably one of the biggest M.I.K.E./Push fans on the face of the earth (seriously), and I feel I owe it to him to judge it properly, not just based on some samples. Those samples itself aren't as bad as I feared, but not as good as I secretly hoped either. I have come to terms with the fact that the 'old' Push sound is really dead and buried for good, and there will be no more of that dark and mysterious From Beyond vibe. That's unfortunate, but you can't expect Mike to be doing the same tricks for more than 10 years straight. At least there appear to be a few massive uplifting trancers in there, so in a way it'll still be a true Push album. Too bad that a few of those mediocre 'nu-skool' tracks like the new single slipped in. I really wished he'd keep that kind of 'experimental' tracks for his M.I.K.E. guise, but alas. That's a direction I wish Mike hadn't taken, but in the end it's up to him to choose which way his aliases go. I too - like a lot of people - feel that Push didn't need a '2009' update, and I really hope we won't end up with a so-so double album, that could have been an awesome single disc with some proper and harsh selection...

exactly my point...the push sound was ahead of its time and not sounding like any other trance tracks
that whole bonzai era from back in the day was in every dj's record box
i understand time goes on, but m.i.k.e has like 500 other aliases
if he felt the need to make these "nu-skool" sounding tracks, he should have just made up a new alias or something and not disgrace the push name with this new stuff
if he really felt in his heart that push needed a 2009 update then he should have stuck with the push formula
i dont think there is anyone from back in the day who wouldnt mind hearing him bring that sound back
iam not doubting m.i.k.e forever, cause i know he always has stuff up his sleeve, iam just kinda upset that he would ruin the push sound
all i can hope for is that theres more tracks from this album that have some kind of feeling like the old sound
refuge
Just basing on what I've heard from the new Push sound, I'm not even going to bother with this - might like two/three tunes at the most -- but I'm definitely not expecting old Push. I don't know what happened to the M.I.K.E. sound other then he had to broaden his audience and get with the times of the horrible new trance which has absolutely no soul/creativity whatsoever. People keep saying it's not 2000 and 2004 anymore and they're right, but what happened to the soul, where has the quality gone? It's gone to the market. Money money money. It has great production value, but no innovation.
With that said, time for old-school hijack time:
The Boy From Nowhere - 'High Life' (1994) [trance/acid/techno] - Atom Records
The Blackmaster - Solid Tube - 1999 - Bonzai Germany
M.I.K.E. - Got To Have It... (Club mix) - 1998 - Zounds
The Blackmaster - Club Confidential - 1998 - Bonzai
M.I.K.E. - 'Groove Point' - 2001 - Bonzai Limited
Mephista - Out Of The Blue (Virtua Trancer remix) - 1998 - Bonzai
refuge
M.I.K.E. - Someone Somewhere - 2000
NRC - Here Comes The Rain (Push Instrumental) - 2003 - genius
Cosmo Kid - Eased The Pain - 1995 - Underground Music Department (new to me)
Cosmo Kid - Cosmic Meltdown - 1999
Cosmo Kid - The Theme - 1995 (brand new to me)
Tribal Warriors - Blokhaus - 1998 (new to me)
Cosmo Kid - The Abyss - 1995 (brand new to me)

I fully agree, the tracks are maybe not the worst you can find on the market, but they do miss some "soul". The overall M.I.K.E. sound has become kinda "flat" and generic; I don't know how to put it differently. I just don't get the pure emotion from these tracks, something I always got from his releases in the past and apparently it's not only me who thinks this way. Let's hope the full tracks will please me more
I also think we're not going to hear the old Push / M.I.K.E. sound anymore. But I can't help myself with each new release from Mike hoping it will be like a blast from the past, hoping the next new track will have a comparable sound as the tracks you've already mentioned here (or at least hoping that they induce emotions as they've done in the past)
