Just listen to the tracks I posted and compare them with the new M.I.K.E. sound - the most obvious reason for the downfall in quality is that he had to make ends meat, and in order to do that, joined Armada full force and started making records that would conform to the modern trance standard of processed piss. And its working, he's selling lots of records, broadening his fan base, but forgot about the real fans and quality control. There's no reason why someone with so much creativity in them would throw it away to make pop records except to make big bucks. Seriously, this new stuff is pop, not trance. I think someone stole his body. Haha.

This probably is indeed the right analysis
Good evidence of this are the vocal tracks he's also doing now, something he was TOTALLY against in the past. He once even said that the vocals on "Plastic Boy feat. Rozalla - Live Another Life" were a big mistake in the end (while I didn't even thought they were that bad). Now even M.I.K.E. is starting to produce various vocal tracks, something which wouldn't be thought possible in the past ... and this probably due to the pressure from Armada and the market demand
And I'm definitally going to check out following tracks:
* The Boy From Nowhere - High Life
* The Blackmaster - Solid Tube
* Mephista - Out Of The Blue (Virtua Trancer remix)
* Tribal Warriors - Blokhaus
* Cosmo Kid - The Abyss
Maybe I've heard them before, but the name doesn't ring a bell. All the others I already knew ... all PURE quality !!!
Subtle
Somewhat lost interest in his new productions.
Absolute - Winter Time and Galore - The Other Way Around are the only tracks the last 2 years i remember having on repeat.
his last 2 singles Interference and Dream Designer was hugely disappointing, Trance Indicator was pretty cool.
And not to mention the loudness and brickwall mastering on the tracks. :(

That Galore track is indeed a nice one, I also liked Trance Indicator (Original and Plastic Boy remix) and the 8 Wonders remix from Dream Designer. 8 Wonders released some nice tracks lately which reminded me a little of the old M.I.K.E sound. Further I thought Interference was just ok (not the Tyas remix, was as generic as we can expect from him). Also not really a huge fan of Winter Time, viewing the reactions for this track at the release I expected more from it.
Also the latest releases for the Plastic Boy and The Gift aliases were not from the same quality level as it used to be
AY STAR
yea refuge some of those clips are deff classics
heres are a few others that capture that mike sound

I seem to be the only one actually really diggin that Winter Time track :p
Best track of 2008 for me!
The latest The Gift was really horrible, although the Fei Fei mix was quite good.
There is a new Galore out now too, with a Klems remix.. called Sunshine.. it did not sound any promising at all though, seems like he is going more the standard uplifting trance route these days. :/

As far as the album is concerned, I won't make a judgement yet until I hear it in full. I have always been and still am probably one of the biggest M.I.K.E./Push fans on the face of the earth (seriously), and I feel I owe it to him to judge it properly, not just based on some samples. Those samples itself aren't as bad as I feared, but not as good as I secretly hoped either. I have come to terms with the fact that the 'old' Push sound is really dead and buried for good, and there will be no more of that dark and mysterious From Beyond vibe. That's unfortunate, but you can't expect Mike to be doing the same tricks for more than 10 years straight. At least there appear to be a few massive uplifting trancers in there, so in a way it'll still be a true Push album. Too bad that a few of those mediocre 'nu-skool' tracks like the new single slipped in. I really wished he'd keep that kind of 'experimental' tracks for his M.I.K.E. guise, but alas. That's a direction I wish Mike hadn't taken, but in the end it's up to him to choose which way his aliases go. I too - like a lot of people - feel that Push didn't need a '2009' update, and I really hope we won't end up with a so-so double album, that could have been an awesome single disc with some proper and harsh selection...
I don't see the hijack anywere, we are talking about Push, and people are talking about if this new album could be good or not.
As i said in the first post, after a years ago, this new Push album (M.I.K.E. with that aka i mean) probably will not be like a 2002 (1999, 2000... or 2003 too) Push with his typical dark trance, Bonzai feel, but it's not that bad. Not all his productions are dark, Urban Shakedown and Strange World are the best examples, and i am seeing quality in these samples, yes, not like the first ages of this decade, but nice anyway. Let's see how he is with vocal tunes, almost the remixes of vocal trance were so great. With Troy and Unlovable (vocal trance from Bonzai) did a great job, and he arranged an armin tune (the remix is not the best of him of the past year, but comparing with original is much better). I don't mention the remix to made of love because i think is more an edit than a remix.
refuge you forgot one anthem
From his official youtube channel. Amazing!
I didn't found on Youtube Icecream (the mike remix, not that sonix rework), and Imagine, two more tunes with fantastic melodies.

I should see if I can dig up that old M.I.K.E. tribute mix I made a few years ago. It pretty much had every type of sound that made him so great. Off the top of my head, the tracklist went a little something like this:
01. M.I.K.E. vs John 00 fleming - Icecream (Original mix)
02. Push - Tranzy state of mind (Original mix)
03. Rio Klein - Fearless (Push remix)
04. M.I.K.E. vs John 00 fleming - Icecream (M.I.K.E. remix)
05. Plastic Boy - Silver bath
06. Solar Factor - Urban shakedown
07. The Gift - Love angel (Main mix)
08. Albert Vorne - A leaden day (M.I.K.E. remix)
09. Ultravibe - Microcosmos
10. Mass Effect - In full effect
11. Virtua Trancer - Sex after dinner
12. Push - Travelogue
Heck, I might even do a new one, if I can get my hands on some turntables. This thread has brought me some inspiration. :)

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who really enjoyed "The Other Way Around". Also I prefer his Club Flow Remix of "Winter Time" but then again it wasn't that much of a standout.
Has anyone checked out his new alias, M.I.K.E. Presents Caromax? Not full on uplifting stuff, more slow and proggy but I still like "Oasis of Dreams" and "X3". "Logic" is OK too I guess. Caromax seems to be on Pilot6 (Armada) but the sound doesn't seem to be a sellout yet so that can only be a good thing.

well, based on the tracks that have been released of that album (interference, trance indicator) not only the names are un-creative :nervous:

Trance Indicator is definitely the highlight of this album. It's instantly recognisable as a Push track AND it lives up to todays production standards. The combination is possible!

That doesn't mean you should sound like every other producer on the planet, which is basically what the whole argument is about. As refuge pointed out earlier, we don't want Mike to reuse his 2001 soundbank, we simply want him to sound unique.
