I can't imagine why anyone could possibly hate him after creating such masterpieces-representative of the monotony of capitalist and consumerist industrialized nations. The underlying message is there, masquerades under deep layers of sophisticated filtering and mastering. John Lennon searched for 9 years around the world to find an instrument representative of inner peace for the song "Within you, Without you." Deadmau5, likewise, has found that noise to best represent our daily lives. Genius.
I mean, nobody hates Einstein right? Even after he throws away his first son, marries his cousin, and fingerbangs(borderline rape) his step daughter. We all know about it, but we put this negatives in a dark closet, to hold our praise to his vast intelligence.
Let's put aside this unfound unified disdain for Deadmau5 and just get lost in our lives of repetition, monotony and consumerism. Such pigs we are, we need a mouse to find the cheese in such mud. |

Honestly, those are totally redemptive qualities. If he made actually interesting music, he'd be greatness. Too bad EDM is pretty much crap - fun, but crap nevertheless. |

what exactly did this guy do to make everyone hate him (besides the obvious which is make it in the edm music industry lol)? |
I think it all started when he said that he wanted all djs to die in a fire. That doesn't go to well with all the people out here aspiring to be a dj as well as being a dj. . .
Past that I think the guys productions are really good, but his attitude towards the scene has cause and effect.
PS I just got out of the shower and I Smell soooo GOOD!! |

They may be redeeming qualities....but its not good PR to state these things to people who buy your product. |

That entirely depends on your crowd. True, if you want to be on the cover of Rolling Stone and sign a multi-million dollar contract after selling platinum, it's probably not a good idea to whip it out on stage and take a piss on your audience. I can say quite certainly however that there is a market for that.
Besides, the music industry is commercialized to saturation. I, for one, enjoy people standing up and giving the finger to consumerism and the listless myspace drones that deadmau5 is no doubt aware are probably paying his rent. If he can still move product all the while acting however he wants, I think that's actually a great leap towards artistic integrity - not away from it.
Once more though, he'd be great if his music didn't suck. And no, that's not subjective. :D |
