I recall reading something on art by Oscar Wilde. What he basically had to say is that any given artist can either be an interesting person and lead an interesting life full of art and abstraction and whatever else we assign meaning to or, they can be a great artist - they simply cannot be both.

That entirely depends on your crowd. True, if you want to be on the cover of Rolling Stone and sign a multi-million dollar contract after selling platinum, it's probably not a good idea to whip it out on stage and take a piss on your audience. I can say quite certainly however that there is a market for that.

:stongue: Not quite what I had in mind, but I guess that applies. Did that little incident hurt his record sales though? I doubt it did.

In any case, one of the first rules of the entertainment industry is that if you want people to worship you and pay you like a rockstar, you have to act the part. This applies in many other aspects of life as well.

Exactly. Attitude totally sells, you just have to point it in the right direction. People who buy each American Idol winner's debut album are probably not the correct market.

i must admit i was a huge R Kelly fan back in the day and i was disgusted with all of the going on with him. the peeing and the pedophile stuff. he has lost all my respect and you won't catch me buying anything of his.

there's a fine line between people like eminem and deadmau5 and then R Kelly and Michael Jackson. MJ just makes me really sad because i don't give a how many albums he sold, he is one ed up individual and it's sick that people still idolize him. it's like LOOK AT HIM for christ sake. :stongue:

This "joke" is slowly becoming even more annoying than that which it seeks to ridicule. Not that I'm blaming you...

Nor would I have any qualms blaming you whatsoever. :gsmile:
