we've all been over this before; but i still think that the majority of the time you can get good cheap airfare on sites like orbitz, travelocity, expedia VS going thru airlines directly.

Sometimes, but not always. My suggestion is to go straight to the source... then if something goes wrong, there is no middle man and it saves you a huge headache.

wtf...

Me and my bro have to get to Ontario in august, we are thinking of just going to NY stay with our aunt for a bit then take a train. Would that be cheaper then flying direct?

Yes. Flying Domestically will save you a ton of cash, and a bus from BUF to YYZ is not that expensive.

True my aunt also works for Delta but we don't wanna depend on stand by. Either way it would be best to get something now right?

Delta is notorious for changing schedules. If you book now, chances are, you're going to have your flights changed on you multiple times (don't say you weren't warned). With that being said, it is wise to purchase as far in advance as possible as they price their tickets on a tiered system and if you wait, the tickets on the lower price levels of the ladder will be gone.

there is a law in canada now that if your flight is delayed for more than 3 hours they have to pay for your hotel room and food.

They haven't made that a law yet. They are working on it, but quite frankly, I don't think that is going to fly (haha I am punny). If they actually implement that, all the airlines are ed.

I agree, but $500 on airfare? I can spend that partying, sightseeing, or something else.
Frenchie
You're talking to someone who spends too much on airfare and i'm talking to someone who can't afford airfare. :P

I'm all for saving, yes, but if you're on a long trip like that..the 500$ really isn't going to phase you if you get home alive and comfy.

yea i'm with ben. $500 is a lot of money to save and have towards something else. if it was $200 i'd say it and spend the extra $200 for comfort, but 5 is different.

+1

There are busses, trains, shuttles, taxis etc. all of which are likely to be cheaper than $500. Seriously, you can often negotiate with a taxi driver to do it for a flat rate, although both directions would probably be steep.
Frenchie
lol cheapers.

Slylee
well she should just fly out of ft. laud/miami. i told her it's $70 roundtrip for train fare down here. and i've taken amtrak before it's totally decent. the seats are huge and leather and they recline with lots of foot room. it's like flying first class. after a long travel from europe, i bet she'd pass right out on the train ride home.
