Believe me, the travel agency I work for is seeing serious losses due to the economy. All our employees have received a 10% salary cut, and hourly employees are required to take one day off per pay period due to staggering losses in the financial department. The website I spent most of last year making is barely being used, there are never any news updates, and traffic is down by quite a bit. It's very sad, a lot of the people here are considering leaving the industry simply because of how poorly it's doing. Nobody wants to travel right now, it's too expensive for most people.
On top of that, airport security is tighter than ever, and most people think it's a hassle. I don't blame them, it's a bitch to get through and when you are finally through, flights get cancelled/delayed at the blink of an eye, and baggage fees are through the roof. It's no wonder nobody is traveling these days :stongue: |

What's the catch with those 9.00 fares anyway? How much and how often do you have to pay, and how long do the special fares last?
Spirit is such crap and I'd only fly on it again if those deals were actually what they sound like. |
they definitely are $9 each way (and sometimes even 8 or 5 bucks). it's not bull. the first thing i did was sign up for a 3 month trial of it and it literally cost $9. then you have to cancel or they will charge you for a year which was like $70 or something. i ended up just saying screw it, and letting them charge me for the year. i don't think i've actually taken a spirit air flight yet,i've done some travelling recently but it was other airlines. this will be my first time taking advantage of the whole $9 fare club so we'll see how the service/flight is with spirit. but the prices are very real and the only catch is you have to go on the days specified for that fare. but it's not that bad because they offer weeekend days too so it's not like they are always on mondays or wednesdays. and i'd say the only other catch is you have to act really fast or they're gone. like within a couple of hours. so it works if you're spontaneous lol |

discount airlines can be awesome.
the only problem with them is being stuck sitting beside some idiot that complains non stop that he has to pay for his beverage service.
like hello, it is a discount airline knucklehead. |

Eh, tix aren't as inexpensive as I had hoped, but they're still under $600 apiece round trip with 1 stop each way. Too bad it's on US Airways.
I flew direct to Heathrow from LAX in November 2002 on Virgin for $500 round trip. |

Me and my bro have to get to Ontario in august, we are thinking of just going to NY stay with our aunt for a bit then take a train. Would that be cheaper then flying direct? |

Yes, but take the bus, and fly to BUF. 2hr bus ride and it can be as cheap as $10. :)
Although, I was just checking flights from LAX-YYZ and they were 430. So, I would assume they would be pretty cheap from MIA-YYZ.
edit//MIA-YYZ is $320 nonstop. |
