i dont wanna play devil's advocate here but i agree with krypton (only on giving less aid to africa, not cutting it completely)
africa has loads of stagnant resources and its governments aren't doing anything about it because they're just content on receiving welfare from foreign countries. While its corrupt leaders like Mugabe leech of this for personal use he sees his country in the hole. if the west cuts the aid, then they'd have to think and use more of their resources and plan their economy more thoroughly rather than solely relying on foreign help.
problem is too many private organizations doing behind the scenes deals with Africa's corrupt governments (like diamonds in sierra leone) that the people feel enslaved by the rich land owners and therefore causing petty rebellions and small civil wars. |

not at all; just focus our efforts on those that can be saved/helped with to maximum effect and let nature take it's course with those that cannot. What we do right now is just provide enough aid to keep the status quo (which is pretty in' ty) in perpetuity.... if we were to winnow the wheat from the chaff, burn the chaff and focus our resources on the wheat those that survive will have a much better lot in life within 2 generations. |
