depends on the synth really. i can get close on my nord, but the virus hell no. you can get a "filtered 808" sound at most
heres the best ive gotten out of the nord2: http://www.sendspace.com/file/bth3ax
no processing done |
why do you say not on the virus? I find the virus to be the most versatile: enveloppes can be pretty much whatever you want with the proper modulation
+the built in eq helps for the tone |

sure it's versatile, you can use recursive modulation to make the amp or filter envelopes more/less concave/convex, woo hoo, but the nord still sounds better at ALOT of things, not just 808 kicks. modeled after prophet 5 FTW.

if anyone has done better post it up.
they all have a unique sound. nord, virus, even the moog rogue and the little phatty which is pretty much spouse to be a remake of the rogue with more features are slightly different sounding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ufv29kL05Fg |

Here was my take on what you said about the 808. I do actually know what it sounds like, but I thought this sounded good too. No analog though, just wave editing, and no processing but the filter envelope.

| interesting. is that entirely made from a square wave? or just a square for the attack portion? |
|

| yup pure digital square into the filter. of course the wave was pitched. i actually don't know if thats cheating :D |
|
|
| mysticalninja |
| course not. there is no cheating. |

Haven't tried yet. The LP doesn't have its own noise generator, but I could run an external noise source through it I suppose (you can use the LP's envelopes to control the dynamic character of the external audio). |

Voyager can do every thing the LP can but also a hell of a lot more.
The voyager has an external input so of course you can get the overdrive. Just route one of its outputs or headphone output back into the external input. Turn up the external knob to taste to get crazy overdrive and distortion effects! |
