| I'm pretty much on the fence with Zabiela, I can see why people like to watch him, and although he's talented I do find him a little tedious after a while...... maybe it doesn't help that I'm not that into breaks either. |

i saw zabs play, i didn't dance one second his entire set, i did stand there and watch him though, it was neat to look at but it wasn't anything i wanted to or could dance to
it's about keeping the beat going and keeping the crowd grooving, you're not there to be a shining star, you're there to make people dance, period
some djs seem to forget that |

i have a distaste for efx because 99% of the time they are over done. A little delay never hurt anyone, but too much pew pew pow pow really ruins the music for me.
the way it is used also often leads to killing the natural flow of a set. Flow is something that i find very important, and it is one of the hardest skills to master imo as a dj.

this
flow is one of the hardest things to master, but once you do, mixing is like butter
flow is one of the biggest things i focus on in my sets |

Why is that...? Could you please elaborate more...? I think he is a great dj. |
He used to be spot-on, but there seems to be more of a feigned interest in him over the last year, maybe two years. It's the whole thing where yeah, it was great when it came out, but we've seen it and heard it a million times and now everybody's trying to emulate you, so we're pretty much over it.
Also, he cannot at all be compared to turntablists. He does a lot of looping on CDJs, a lot of effecting, and his scratching is nine times out of ten not done with a plain sample and a crossfader. He has used the same sample on his CD for years and tends to only use the EFX when he scratches in order to chop the sound of him scratching into a rhythm that moves in time with the music. It's an incredibly easy process that I managed to emulate within a day of purchasing my EFX years ago.
He doesn't put on two copies of the same record and beat-juggle them, he doesn't scratch with the crossfader, etc. He's good at what he does, but he's not a turntablist in the truest sense of the word.

I wasn't referring to the music he plays. I was saying who do you think has the best mixing and Armin is one of those top dj's who mixes very well, Plus he does it harmonically. |

| If you want to look at who has the best mixing skills you won't find it in a trance DJ. |

Harmonic mixing is not the be-all, end-all of good mixing. As previously stated, you'll have to look far past Trance to find someone who actually mixes "good." |
