yes actually it does. Being jewish is simply a religion with some ethnic traits tied to Haplogroup J1 when talking about paternal DNA. Its like saying, yeah i'm white. But where are you from? poland? ok so your polish. Thats why you have polish jews german jews etc.
Ashkenazi Jewish people originally diverged from Egyptians and bahrani's and yemeni according to Y chromosomal DNA around 10,000 years ago. There are also chinese indian and etheopian jews wich have no genetic ties to the J1 haplogroup ashkenazi jews and are perhaps converts to the religion.
I guess i could say that i am Egyptian as both my parents are but im pretty sure there is some persian/ turkish and maybe arab blood in me.
And it bothers me when people say I'm 100% this because the probability is that you are not. And if you go back far enough you definatley arent. |

Agreed. An example from my experience most countries around the Mediterainian have very similar looking people since it was a very highly traveled area for thousands of years between many many different cultures. Im sure if I went back far enough in my family tree I would be able to find people from Africa, Albania, Eastern Mediterianian ect. |
