Right, and you're also one of those people who, when somebody is having an IT problem, give the advice "well you just have to install [open source program X] and then..."

Giving people a blanket "suggestion" to change their environment when you know absolutely nothing about their situation is not advice. It's like telling somebody to move to another country because they took two seconds to complain about a noisy neighbour or bad traffic. That's not advice, it's a self-absorbed display of sciolism.

Blanket suggestion? Lol.

Someone is having problems with Ableton, so someone suggests a different DAW. Yes, Blanket Suggestion.

Even IF someone were having problems with Ableton Live, it would still be a completely braindead suggestion to just tell them to use something else. However, "someone" wasn't having problems with Ableton Live, he was having problems trying to accomplish a specific task and happened to be using Ableton Live as his sequencer. Do you even understand the difference, or is it totally impossible for you to get past the perceived inferiority of everybody else's rig?

Nobody's interested in your opinions. I'm sorry, your "advice".

Well obviously, people are complaining. [Thus this thread] So either the user or the program [i'm betting the program] are messed up,

im gonna have to go with user error.

also in my experience live sets are always boring compared to DJs. Bringing everyones music together is cooler to me. But what kind of Djing could you have experienced in Memphis Tennesse anyway? It would probably be more like a Ho-down than a rave.

It's only 2 clicks for cubase, on the third click you will already be drawing the automation ;)

edit: or.. if you don't count hitting the space bar once to start the song a click, all it takes it pressing the W button above the synth once, then everything you move on it is being recorded to an autiomation track.. so thats 1 click if you use a midi controll to move the knobs lol.

ableton and cubase are harder for him to learn than fruityloops. ;) i'm sorry if its mean but i have to say it again, just like science is too hard for him to learn, so he sticks with religion.

to op: why not just use mouse instead of a midicontroller?

That might sound crazy to you, but you're not from america. I've actually heard that suggested. Usually by the 'one nation under god, for liberty and justice', 'land of the free' type. This is a real billboard here: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3367...1e8eab96e_o.jpg

sends

all the same thing

I don't use Ableton and Cubase because they are bad programs. Most people only use them because they have a reputation. Not because they actually, like I did, evaluate the program to see if it fits one's needs. Cubase and Ableton have all this little annoyances that an artist doesn't have time to deal with efficiently.

Diginut, that isn't a braindead suggestion.

"he was having problems trying to accomplish a specific task and happened to be using Ableton Live"

Sounds like a problem with him using Ableton. And as I said, either its user error or program error. I know your mad at me for being right all the time, but if you wish to start flame wars all the time, you won't last long. So just give it up, randomly pointing out nonissues, like in this thread, doesn't get you or your friends anywhere. So stop with the Artificial controversy?

[I notice when ever I enter a thread the three stooges grape, mystical and palm enter the thread and act like peons...its quaint. I think they are all the same person, or Jethro, Jebbedia and Cleetus maby?]

There are idiots and sociopaths in every country. Usually they are the majority.

There's a certain point where you really do have to turn around and tell somebody they're using the wrong tools, like when they're trying to pound screws in with a socket wrench or eating steak with a spoon, but it's six miles south of ignorant to respond to every single question with a smug comment about how your particular tool doesn't have that problem, especially when it does have that problem, or when some other tool solves it just as well but you were too lazy and pig-headed to find out how.
