First-order logic or predicate calculus is taught as part of pretty much any respectable college philosophy program. Do you know how the study of philosophy is structured at university level?

Every arguement with cronodevir turns in to an arguement over meanings, and concepts..

quote:
Logic is the art and science of reasoning which seeks to identify and understand the principles of valid demonstration and inference. Logic is a branch of philosophy strongly joined with mathematics [1] and was part of the classical Trivium. As a discipline, logic dates back to Aristotle and remains integral to fields such as mathematics, computer science, and linguistics. The word derives from the Greek λογική (logiké), fem. of λογικός (logikos), "possessed of reason, intellectual, dialectical, argumentative", and from λόγος logos, "word, thought, idea, argument, account, reason, or principle".

I don't follow the month to month methods of how philosophy is taught, no. But I know its not the same way it was taught 40 years ago. Back in the day Logic was its own class. Rhetoric was its own class, and both were taught in grade school.

Now its just, watered down.

I'm not a mathematician, I learn Logic so I can apply it to my life. If you don't know how logic works, how can you expect to get anywhere in life? You will be lost in the vast sea of misinformation and broken ideas.

Logic is its own class in most philosophy programs. Often there are multiple courses on logic you can take, dealing with different areas of the subject. I think it would be useful to have logic taught in grade school as well, though.

Logic should be mandatory. 90% of all the problems that go on here are when people fail to see the logic behind my words, and just assume the worst. When talking to people from Princeton or Rhodes I don't have these issues, on a random internet forum, issues are abound. And this isn't tongue in cheek.

Also, Logic didn't originate from Greece lol...people have had logic since they existed.

Always? You mean we didn't evolve to this point? Oh wait, you don't believe in evolution. We were created just like this one day. :wtf:

Threads tend to go off topic like that. What can you do? I just go with the flow in this regard.

Lets assume you are X.
How does X continue to always be wrong?
Logically speaking X has never been right.
If something is never right then it will lose the battle of social Darwinism.
Using that logic X is never right hence X fails at life and will not be one of the surviving species.
