| It just depends on the social environment. I could easily imagine someone on the fence about religion who decided to "pursue" non-belief, or at least take religion much less seriously, because he wanted to fit in with an academic environment, for example. I doubt that wholly "rational" considerations are ever the only thing involved in driving people toward a belief or non-belief. I don't buy the idea that "Well, religious belief is always irrational, but non-belief always has a good reason behind it!" |

Evolution and Big Bang theories are wayy more far fetched than creationism. It takes more faith to believe in alot of these ideas than it does to believe in god. The organic mechanics of all matter are too complex for them to have evolved. |

Just because some guy you know fvcked someone over and said he didn't care about it as there's no god to punish him, does not mean there is a statistically significant number of people that do bad things and justify it by lack of belief. |
