Are religious people happier? (pg. 3)

one of my best friends got really into religion these past couple of years and she is totally happier. things happen to her that would get most people down and she treks right through it. i think that's great but i also believe she uses it as a crutch. whenever anything goes bad well it was meant to be by God and he listens to my prayers so i'll be happy in the future. if something good happens, like ANYTHING at all praise the lord jesus. i'm a believer in God and whatnot but her belief in religion is imo borderline crazy but at least she is happy

Is it not requisite for a good Christian to spread the gospel?

I don't really understand why it bothers any of you if someone is happy and has religion in their life (whatever form).

It doesn't "bother me" terribly. I'm just interested in whether it's true or not.

Nope, it's a requisite for a good Christian to live an apostolic mission... spreading the gospel can be interpreted as an apostolic mission; however, most Christians take this to be more akin to living as Christ did... serving those who are in need or otherwise persecuted.

In my experience it seems like non-religious people -- people with no belief in God and no spiritual practices of any kind -- are more likely to have had problems with depression and anxiety, and more likely to have tried psychiatric medication or therapy, than religious or spiritual people of a similar social and economic background. I'm non-religious and have struggled with such problems myself, and many other non-religious people I've known have tended toward bitterness and depression at many times.

Do you find this to be the case with people you know, generally? And if so, why do you think that is?
Where did you get your sample from?

Friends and acquaintances.

This isn't a scientific study...

Mark 16

15He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Thats how you know it's bull. No one can be forced into belief. Not true belief anyway.
