No question, good voodoo is one of the hits that will be appearing in may on kiki's second album, kaiku. whomever has heard the organ sequence and the bewitching vocals from chela simone will never forget it. mark kinchen would be proud of kiki. no one has ever heard such classic house-inspired work from kiki. what is better, then, than remixes by friends for the first release, good voodoo, as bpc195. jay haze increases the speed on the edit, leaving the sleek open hi-hats and turns the track into a sharp-edged groove that means serious business at peak time. then, when the organ is replaced with a piano hook line and the track rises from the driving rhythm, the walls flutter and quake with excitement. visionquest is ryan eliott, shaun reeves, and man-of-the-moment seth troxler. the three ex-detroiters take good voodoo's elementary, stripped down components and transform them into a driving house track. also, label mate chaim focuses completely on the hypnotic interaction between the vocals and the groove. reduced to the bare necessities, tracky and with that groove, the remix goes on and tops off the record perfectly.
ing hell, the Visionquest remix is one of the best tracks I've heard all year. Will be released on vinyl on June 8th on Bpitch Control. Anyone have any news on a digital release?

I know that Ellen Allien isn't kiki, but I have been very bored with most bpitch stuff as of late and Ellen Allien. Last thing I remember liking from her was her Fabric comp. Her new album was yawny (though her first two were alright, as well as Orchestra of Bubbles was good) and most everything else has been meh for me.

The Visionquest remix is niceee, party time music, looks like it went down stormly in that Culprit Sessions video.

Sool was a very good album, IMO. Did you check Modeselektor's last one ?
Ellen Allien will always be in my heart for Magma, her remix of Beck's Cellphone's dead and Orchestra of Bubbles.

Sounds like a bore to me. One of those tracks only nice when used in context.

Biggest track of 2009

And isn't that what building a set's all about? If a DJ drops a track and it doesn't go well with the "context" of the set...do you think it's the track that is bad or is it the DJ?
That being said, context or no context...I haven't been able to get this track out of my head ever since I first heard it.

Very true, but a awesome tune shines in and out of a set IMO. Also I'm only judging from the video, obviously I'll check out a decent sample.
