capable of peace?
This past week we've had a dude shoot an abortion doctor going to church.
And now some 88 y/o hag who hates blacks & jews & takes his shot gun to the Holocaust Museum :conf:
I just want peoples' general opinion, do you think humans are naturally aggressive towards one another?
Do you think peace will EVER be possible or is it just a far fetched fantasy?
Are human beings capable of living in harmony? 
All stats, opinions- are welcomed.
It'd be cool to see an actual test done on humans.. |

but that's my point. if we're no longer in 'caveman' days- then how come through the process of evolution we haven't had that changed in our being? to be more peaceful with one another or come to a compromise before picking up a shotgun?

Evolution takes many millions of years. It's only been 10,000 years or so since we all were savages in pre-civilization. |

Yes and no. People with the same idea's generally are friends and dont have any differences (think western world. religious groups). However the world is full of many different people with many different ideas and because some of these people live near eachother conflict arrises.
Then you have the dozens or more other factors that complicate the matter greed, fear etc.

It took millions of years to develop it. It'll take just as long to undevelop it if that is to happen. We'v only not been cavemen for what, the last 10,000 years? The first upright hominids lived I think 2 million years ago.. |

There is no evidence to suggest they ever had any.

| All animals show aggression when it comes to gathering food and stuff. The fact is we will always be an aggressive species so long as there is a limited amount of "stuff" on this earth that we are all competing for. Until we have an unlimited supply of food, clothing, houses, etc (which we can never have)..people will retain their competitive instincts. The notion of holding hands and cooperating peacefully simply can't happen when the there is an unlimited demand for the essentials of life and a limited supply. This situation will always breed an subconscious anti-social instinct in us. |

People aren't supposed to get along. The group that is right is meant to dominate the groups that are wrong. Though it doesn't always work out that way. In the grand scheme of things lives mean pretty much nothing, so when people die who cares. We aren't here to live life. If a person for instance cannot even grasp basic logic, then thier life should be written off as not important. And people who live only to feed their desires are among the most useless of humans and don't really need the life they have. So when they are killed..who cares? They didn't contribute, so nothing was lost. |
