A lot of the recomendations are in a similar vein. Probably stuff like that, ka-sol, derango etc.

Would be my idea, sortof darkish stuff, although not too dark and not too hard and fairly goa influenced.

I haven't got a youtube, but spindrift has a lot of tracks up for free download on last fm as do the other artists on that compilation.

http://freedownloads.last.fm/downlo...769/essence.mp3

but basically, darkpsy with a fairly warm sound, rather than very artificial.

I know their recent "stuff" is but I don't consider Classical Mushroom and The Gathering to be albums.
Neither do I dislike Chaos Laboratory and The Growly Family

I'm not really into psy tho, I much prefer Goa.

Classical Mushroom and The Gathering are decent. Far from as good as people try to make them.
Their vocal projects are laughable. They can't sing but still they torture people with their songs during their live sets. I think Erez Aizen did much better in his Shiva Shidapu project. Check this out if you haven't already: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Shiv...y/release/50049

The nostalgia-factor on it is huuuge, I can't stand that track these days, though :(

I disagree, The gathering is the best album ever in my opinion, takes some listening to get into, but once you are, it's like nothing else. B.P. Empire is also pretty damn epic and amazing. Just listen to noise maker! Or the beginning track. Classical mushroom is also pretty solid, but not as good as those two.

Shiva shidapu is the perfect example of some really amateur tracks, that just sound absolutely amazing, for god knows what reason (atmosphere and melodies and flow I guess). It's certainly inspirational from a "my tracks sound amateur" perspective.

You are the first person in the history of the world to rate BP Empire higher than Classical Shroom.. :wtf:

Cities of the future is also one of my favourite IM tracks.

*reads psynews review thread* yeh... I'm on the fifth page now and no one has said it's their favourite IM album. You could be right.

I think they were made with Impulse Tracker, very rudimentary production.

Yes I remember reading an interview with them over 10 years ago. They used really basic stuff. They were only kids lol :D
