no team will pay him what he thinks he is worth i think.
vancouver paid a lot for very little return last year. There will be a few players "forced" into retirement due to the salary cap i think.

Colton Orr will be awesome to have in Toronto if he actually fights.
Worth a million? Depends on intangibles. There's more to being a great team than just stacking up with the most talent (or size, for that matter). But I'd still say no...

the thing is, signing a goon that plays 5 minutes a game to a 4 year contract is brutal.

It's the price per year I'm not impressed with. 4 years is ok unless he breaks his hand or something and can't fight anymore.
As long as fighting is allowed in the NHL, there will be GMs who believe the need a good fighter on their team to 'protect' their skilled players.
If he fights, and wins, it very well COULD boost the confidence and moral of the rest of the team, which will improve their play. If a 5-minute/game player can do that, I'd say it was worth it. If they STILL suck the big one and there's no difference, well then it was a waste.

Numminen quit, which brings up the question.. Will Sundin still play next season? God I hope not :(
:p
Vancouver 2010, Finland-Sweden, it's the last minute and Finland leads 3-2. Then Sundin grabs the puck and dekes Aki Berg (who has been selected because he washed our coach's back in sauna very well). Sundin is in breakaway and there is only Miikka Kiprusoff left...
:p
Theoren Fleury wants to return to NHL. NHL needs one midget more! :D

i'm still anxiously awaiting the season.
bob needed to blow up this team, because it failed hard last year. Look at how many unrestricted habs are still looking for work with one month left until training camps. This is not a cup winner, but i do think bob built a team that will be a still playing come playoff time. It all depends on if gomez and gionta click again and if carey price can flourish with a new defensive system that jacques martin will obviously be playing.
If anything, i think our defense is better than last year, and there are rumbles that pk subban might make the jump to the nhl as early as this year.
they could flop, but it can't be worse than last year. Moen was such an awesome addition, probably the best one imo. Gill might be slow, but he will be on 5th or 6th d man so not an issue. Pair him with mara and that is a big last pair. Very useful for playing the trap.
Big rumour is that halak is on the trading blocks. With his stats he could be a starter in many cities, and i think him and pleknanec will be packaged to bolster the 2nd line a bit.

Hal Gill is great on the PK too, he has a really good stick. Just wish he'd push more people around with that size he has.
He may be slow, but he's usually in good position. Just look out if he starts chasing the puck, Gill needs to learn that his place is 2 feet in front of the goalie, and anything more is too far away.

even after the loss of komisarek, overall if i look at the 3 guys we replaced on defense with the people we replaced them with we come out better. More puck movement and better pp. (komi can't shoot, and is very weak on the outlet passes. all he is good for is blocked shots and hits, which he is among the best in the league at..markov made him look better than he was)
spacek will address the puck movement giving markov (who imo is easily one of the top 5 overall d men in the nhl) some breathing room.
replace brisbois, bouillon, komi, dandenault and end up with:
markov/spacek
gorges/hamrlik
mara/gill
being pushed by these youngsters
subban/obyrne/weber/
the question mark will be on offense.
camillari/gomez/gionta (although i think cammilieri will play on the 2nd line to make room for a bigger winger to add grit. possibly latendresse or paciorety)
kostistyn/pleknanec/kostistyn
latendress/ lapierre/moen (great gritty line imo!)
this team is better rounded then last year imo. :)
there are also a some great prospects in the pipeline. i can't wait for the season to start!
price/halak/sanford
the goalies will have less shots on goal this year with a better d corps so carey's softmore slump might not mean a thing. Its put up or shut up time. Halak is among the best backups in the league and should have even been considered for number 1 last year, but carey is the golden boy so it did not happen.
