Q: There's a Youtube video questioning whether Armin van Buuren has based his whole career on copying you, from naming his track after airplanes to ending his shows with the same track. Are you flattered?
A: Well I dunno, It's a diffucult question to answer. I saw that Youtube video - someone forwarded it to me and there were a lot of comprasions but its the way you look at it. I do see some similarities, for sure. But I don't think he is copying me directly. I must be an inspiration for him and thats fine and I think its better that people get inspired from you than not at all.
Q: When Paul van Dyk was asked by Las Vegas Weely why people should see him rather than you he said "if you like the cheese left out then come and see me." Fair comment?
A: He has always been a little naught to me. You know, saying I play "Mickey Mouse house" or something. He can say whatever he wants. I don't care. I think with music taste you can't say anything about it. It's an opinion. It's like a food. If I don't like bananas I don't like bananas. But to take a shot at someone for what they play, I would never do that. I have respect for everyone in that way.
Q: You have giants screns as part of your show - ever been tempted to watch porn on them?
A: Well, I have a little screen in front of me so I know whats going on on the big screen. One night my crew put a porn on the smaller screens. I was shocked because I thought it was on the big screen too. but then I turned around and I was like "OK".

ugh I don't even know if I want to get involved with this but...
1) people who hate on tiesto for whatever reason are... haters. And in my experience the more haters I have the better job I'm doing.
2) respect for others doesnt make you a good DJ. track selection, technique, and pleasing the crowd does. amongst other things
3) LOL at the conjuring of beef between PVD and tiesto and the allegation that armin copies tiesto. is any of it true? more importantly, should we care?
I got a life to live. and I cant spend it worrying about who is the best DJ of the big 3. The best DJ ever has probably never spun outside his bedroom. lol.
I dunno. it. I'm the best DJ ever cause when I played David Guetta at a college bar these girls took their tops off. so BAM!
(maybe I just went a little overboard? it. oh well) |
