swimming in the Hudson River

This is a very random post, but I've been thinking about taking a jump into the Hudson lately... My new apartment is right on the cliff and faces directly across 70th St. in Manhattan, and every morning I get to look at the river in all its splendor.

Does anyone have any experiences in this? I know there's a few swimming events a year, but I'm literally just gunna be jumping off one of the old docks here, close enough to the side where I can just climb back up...

It's one of those crazy things in life I think I want to be able to say I've done haha...

The next question is, does anyone wanna join me? The girl I'm seeing, she's down. We almost did it a few weeks ago; she said she'd do it if I did it, so I decided I'm gunna do it haha... Any takers?

Then, I'll write a song about it, maybe haha..

You'll come out with gills and an arm coming out of your forehead. Good luck. :)

Whenever I get drunk at the river bars in Hoboken I debate this and if I could swim to Manhattan, but then I quickly realize I'm hungry and stumble the other way

I went skinny dipping in the East River a couple of years ago with a bunch of ppl after leaving Ms Williamsburg, lol
I think the Hudson is waaay dirtier than the East River. In any case, get a nose clip and make sure you don't open your mouth underwater

I'm in. You know that deck behind the Crab House in Edgewater? Well, I was there last summer with bunch of friends and one of my friends decided jump in from the deck for 100 bucks. He couldn't get out for about 10 mins cause there was nothing to hold onto. There is a video of it somewhere on the internet. I'll try to find

Oh that sounds great... I'm doing it, as long as its high tide... When it's low tide, the water levels are low and you can see all the crap that's there at the bottom... Maybe I'll jump in with a boogieboard just to be careful...

Nah it's not. The EPA cleared it for fishing and swimming a few years ago. That doesn't mean there's not stuff to be scared of though: bluefish, waste, rocks, and weird old driftwood at the bottom from god knows when...

But as far as being toxic, it's not anymore. Yo, Burak, I think I'm gunna do it near that park under the George Washington Bridge; there's rocks to swim up to and ...
