Inversely, when some meathead like Carlos Newton gets raped by an intelligent Matt Hughes is pretty sweet too. |
that's what I meant...
better example: machida vs. rashad evans. I spent half the time laughing. |

Incorrect. There have been several instances where they go at least 2 or 3 rounds - even five. Recently I think it was... Anderson Silva v Thales Leites that lasted FOREVER. Granted, it was a terrible fight, but it was Leites' bitch self flat on his back for the entire fight in "guard".
Actually on the Ultimate Fighter Finale fight night the battle between Clay Guida and Diego Sanchez was intense. Lasted all three rounds and was bloody and balls to the wall. Excellent fight. Still think Guida should have won but whatever :o |

He was a total **** during TUF episodes. He definitely didn’t win that fight against Matt Hammill, worst decision ever.
I hope Dan shuts him up. |

he was outmatched the entire fight. Diego really pwned him in the stand up, and that head kick...
I had it 29-28 diego. ;) |

Mir looked jacked during the weigh in. Hope to see him win. That said...Lesner is a juggernaut and probably will win.
Alvez made weight....kind of a tense weigh in. |

Brock Lesnar (c) (265) vs. Frank Mir (c) (245)
Why do they let Brock stay so much heavier than everyone? It's just unfair from a weight class standpoint. All he does is take you down and punch. :conf: |

Heavyweight is between 206 and 265. So he could fight someone that is 210. |

i really want Mir to sweep and leglock Lesnar again. to add insult to injury.
or... for him to win by camel clutch.
or sharpshooter. that'd be epic.
Mir's striking is INSANE, after what he did to Nog.
he wtfpwned Lesnar on the ground once already. and we also saw Randy fend off Brock's ground game with ease, he wasn't able to control much. Mir's BJJ is SICK, and it's not only a lay down and work from my guard approach, as Mir is pretty big himself.
a KO would be... ing awesome though.
GSP can only lose by flash knockout. if the fight goes on further than the 1st minute, i don't think Alves got much of a chance.
i have a soft spot for Hendo, only man to be LHW and MW champion at the same time. |

marital arts is about self defense and discipline. ask any sensei...they will do anything to avoid a fight.
don't even go there with me. my dad is a 3rd degree black belt (retired), a master in jujitsu and i took karate in a real dojo in japan. lol |
i have a background in traditional taekwondo, and then olympic style. then i also practiced it full-contact. since i've done kickboxing, barzillian jujitsu, kali escrima filipino, boxing, and recently started judo.
my father is a blackbelt in old ITF TKD. one of my uncles is ex-national selection in judo. the other is a kempo instructor.
my MMA coach is a 6 time national TKD champ, so he comes from a traditional background as well. HIS striking coach is a a very high level boxer with a background in kyokushin karate. his grappling coach is a judo 5th dan, and BJJ blackbelt.
they all agree MMA is honorable, and brilliant. it is the only venue where fighters get to test their skills against fighters of similar physical prowess, with rules allowing them to employ their art to the fullest extent while maintaining safety. it is the most "real" situation in which you can see martial arts application.
if you trained in japan, you'd know cross-training was heavily favored by the likes of Jigoro Kano, Masahiko Kimura and Masutatsu Oyama, to name a few, and all believe in competing against other styles to have a proper idea of what works and what doesn't. the creation of judo as we know it comes from challenge matches Kodokan judoka lost against fusen-ryu jujutsuka, prompting Kano to employ fusen-ryu newaza technique, for example.
so i think you're being a bit myopic in your point of view. |

Eh? People actually use moves like the camel clutch and the sharpshooter in MMA? |
