when you have $4000 worth of fur running around your house, there's a need, believe me. Hell if that investment isn't going to be properly maintained! :stongue:

Sorry to hear about your loss. A pet dying can be a really devastating thing.

Lost my puppy to a car last year right in front of my eyes. They ing murdered him, could have easily been avoided. Took it pretty bad for weeks, even broke down at work. We went to the same breeder to get another puppy from the same parents, takes some of the grieving away knowing we have a brother of his.

yea but what exactly do they do for your cats at the vet every year? aren't they indoor cats? it doesn't matter how much you spent on them, if they are indoor cats and have their shots and are acting fine, you don't need the vet every year. cats don't need to go to the vet more so than dogs.

i mean i've never had a bangle cat so i dunno but it seems like everyone i know who has some fancy breed of cat or dog is in and out of the vet all the time whether or they need to or not.

I'll refer to that other person's post a couple pages back about how he didn't take his cat for a regular checkup, and found out too late that his cat had cancer... could have possibly been handled if caught early. That's all I'm saying... I don't mind spending a little money to go the preventative route; I would rather be proactive than reactive when it may be too late. The fact that they are expensive just makes me more likely to play the proactive role. Like if I drove a $100K Mercedes... you can bet I'd have that er detailed and keep up with the regular maintenance schedule no matter what, as opposed to driving a 1984 Oldsmobile, where I wouldn't care as much.

so what are you saying? that my cat (a stray) is like an 84 Oldsmobile and yours is a Ferarri?

:p i see your point. i was just curious about what sort of "testing" or procedures they do when you take your cats in. do they do blood work or something?

hahaha no i'm not saying that at all :D These are my first exotic breed of cats... the 10 or so I've had throughout my life till now were regular ones. Yeah at the vet they do blood tests and lukemia checkups and all that jazz... worms and too (at our request). Not each time, but you know. Just making sure everything is tip top.

Hyper thyroid disease!;) It's common in older cats.
