i have been on this for a week (after being forced into it:p), and i am starting to realize that it is not as crazy as i thought it would be. It is not so much a diet in the sense of trying to lose weight, but more of an effort to increase awareness about the food that we eat and its potential impact on our bodies, as well as the environment.

there are a lot of food lovers on here, so i figured i would post this in case anyone is interested in this type of thing.

We decided to only do this during the summer months (because local produce is a little hard to come by in winter), and the challenge of cooking dishes sans some ingredients that are not available in the radius has actually been quite fun, and prety healthy.

i ing miss coffee though:(

apparently there is a tv show on this but i have not watched it.

Yeah it's interesting. I find some of the families enraging though. People who don't eat right piss me off, lol. There's this one stupid ing family and all they eat is ing Kraft Dinner. And then they whine about this diet thing being too hard...yeah, cause you're a ing moron about nutrition.

*rageragerage*

There was another couple who loved them some wine...so they went to a local vinyard and worked for something like a couple dozen bottles of wine? For each row of grapes they fertilized they received two bottles of wine. That was cool. :)

i am lucky i can still drink beer and there are tons of wineries within range.

it costs more for sure, but whatever at least the money stays in our local economy and there were a few nice discoveries made in only a week.

i guess i'll have to check out the show.

Yeah dude that show really made me think about like that. Tnak for local microbreweries, lol.

An thank god I don't eat a lot of bread and . These people had no way of getting local wheat...because the only local farmer had already sold all his grain to the health food store or some . So they had to find some other small farmer and divvy up what they could. Some of them were really upset, lol.

Never heard of it - and the website doesn't really explain it too well... what the hell is it?

basically you can only eat food grown/raised/caught within 100 miles of where you live. You can't eat anything processed unless every ingrediant in it is 100% local. Not only can it make you a better cook, healthier, but you also start to see how far the food you usually eat comes from. Why would i pay a Californian for lettuce, when someone local can give me the same product, fresher, without unhealthy preservatives it uses in transport, all while keeping your dollar spent locally.

i'm going green nigga guah guah.
