I'm a bit young to have been influenced directly by the 80s. The indie-dance stuff of the period has definitely been a big influence on my tastes, though. Stuff such as:
New Order - Blue Monday
The Stone Roses - Fool's Gold

I dont have narrow taste.. i just hate the sound of the 80s. 90s is where its at for me.
Can you describe the sound of 80's? You tell me that for example Kraftwerk's Electric Cafe sounds similar to Phuture's Acid Trax. Or that The Stone Roses sound similar To Gary Numan. What about Art Of Noise, post-Black Celebration Depeche Mode, Manuel Göttsching, Tangerine Dream... all have the same, dated sound?

I dont know all those artists.. i was seven years old when the 80s ended.
When i think 80s music, i think about what was most popular, what is still being played today. the typical synth pop, balad rock sound.
For me music was more interesting in the 90s with the indie/grunge rock, pop and dance music.

This and some Depeche Mode is probably the only popular 80s music i like. Everything else, Chicago house, Detroit techno, industrial, underground disco and synth pop, indie rock, ambient, electro, dream pop, krautrock and even some new age is awesome.
So here, I fixed it for you.
