Those type don't grow that big down here in Sydney, about the size of someone's palm in terms of leg-span. In fact I haven't seen many of them at all lately so maybe the birds are getting even on them or its the wrong season.
We do get funnel webs though.
They're kind of an "I Win!" in the entire spider world in terms of wrecking people... most poisonous, sneaky, bitey and cranky all in one package.

Plenty of these red back's around too, but they're not really cranky, poisonous enough to kill but they dont go out of there way to do it like the funnel webs seem to do.
