Well it's pretty ing pathetic that they're willing to give up individual thought and their own needs/desires to do so. |

I totally agree with that. I just think that when it comes to jobs & work and ... everyone becomes a yes man cause it is way to ing hard to find another job in this economy. |

Indeed, it's why I can't stand collectivist ideologies. |

Fair enough, and I do understand that. I just mean that I wasn't calling YOU a yes man by using your situation as an example. :) |

Oh yea I know :)
I was merely stating that some people can be two different ways depending on the situation. With my boyfriend, friends, family - I say what I want, when I want. :o At work, I'm my boss' little bitch :( |

Why? It's obvious they weren't using it anyways, and even then, individual thought is a farce, especially when the entire topic hand has to do with the interactions between people. The way I see it, the more other people are willing to bow down and demean themselves over bull, the easier it is to dissent and have your voice heard, should you have something worthwhile to say.
Sycophants always end up precisely where they deserve, however you may feel about that. |

I'm not saying that individualism is the be-all-end-all. In fact quite the opposite. I think a lot of our problems stem from the way individualism has been shoved down our throats all our lives as the ultimate freedom. I would say that's exactly where people's sense of unjustified entitlement comes from, and accounts for the general lack of consideration for others these days.
Again, it's all about balance. |
