haha, seriously, if you knew what my job is, you'd agree with me. so honestly, i take no pride in my job. Oh, but when i said i 'disappear' that only happens when there is absolutely NOTHING going on.. like we'll have 20-30 min in between where everything is clean & you have to 'act' like you're busy to a manager & i hate that. so i just leave & i come back when i know it's about to get busy again. so even still, im an awesome employee ;)
yea but you never know if in the future you run into that boss and he needs something that has to do with your current job and is happy to give you the business because you were such a great employee.

people care about their job when they have a job worth caring about. customer service is probably the most expendable and low level job in any organization. everyone in there wishes they were doing something else. as you move up the totem pole, you will generally find the level of intensity to be much higher. at the highest level, it is cut throat and a rat race all at the same time. then people will be complaining about lack of empathy and compassion.

exactly, that's why it's good to have your managers like you. i'm cool with all of them, in fact we were all walking & someone said something about being wet, & i pulled a 'thats what she said' joke but very low so only my friend could hear-- my manager heard but we all started to laugh so hard, it's cool to be in good terms.

i'd hate myself too if I was 30 and worked at a call center with ty pay my whole life. I'd probably be ok doing it as a part time job during college or something just to get an allowance to go out, but not as the job I rely on to get food on the table.
in India, call center jobs are fairly high paying and highly sort after. it's not the same as US call centers.

i know and that's why i said it's mostly the people in charge who are to blame for not taking care of/showing appreciation to their employees. people need to feel a part of something in order for them to treat it as their own.

They don't care because they're working for big companies where any effort they expend is just a drop in the bucket and where they could be replaced easily inside of a few days. People will be disgruntled if they feel like they're expendable and doing pointless work that won't amount to anything a week from now.

Why is everything in life a mission? More specifically with customer service. No body takes pride in their job any more and falls through the cracks, orders are deleted/misplaced, refunds not refunded as promised, and then you lose time because you have to call customer service and you end up talking to some toolbag in ing India even though the company's headquarters is right up the street. And as much as I love the food and the people/culture, I ING HATE THE INDIAN ACCENT. Why? WHY do I get someone who sounds like a robot with an Indian accent every time I need to call a company about a mistake THEY made?
No one does what the they are supposed to do because no one gives a about their job any more and it's pissing me off.
