yes, i did read it... i'm pretty sure by "accurate" he meant the subgenres of each branch and also his humore but NOT the basic partition. alhough, u can ask him himslef. u can PM him - hes registered here as ishkur.

Cool, I didn't know that. I searched for him and read some of his posts.. and other people's posts about him.

Here's two nice ones I found:

"Damn it sounds like you guys think Ishkur is a god or somthing. I live in Vancouver so I know him. hes such fool." - Special_K

"Ishkur is a up talking about things he doesn't know about.
Makes up styles, stereotypes, stuff like that.
His site is funny, but not informative." - Dwingo

:D
[EDIT]
Ok, you have to go offline. cya :D

Hehehe, i laugh everytime his page is brought up. Ishkur lives in Vancouver so do I, I have met him on many occasions. He is one of the most jaded basterds in the Vancouver scene, he likes to think of himself as a the all knowing voice of the rave scene.

His site is good for a few laughs but other then that just keep on walking. Its nothing special nor are any of the other features on his site.

Its a shame that very few of you will ever meet Ishkur aka: Kent. Like his site hes good for a few laughs but other then that keep on walking.

something suggestedto me that u were going to say something like that after my last post so decided to stay for 6, no it's 2 already, more minutes

1)those quotes are from people that, too, have their own opinion. THEY MEAN NOTHING and cannot be considered as a fact.

2)i never said the guide was completely accurate

3)all those people that say that trance is a subgenre of techno or even that they are *closely* related show how little they know about techno (which is common for this board)

4)i don't care what ishkur is like in the real life, but his opinion on the genres makes more sense than the one on that site u mentioned. (that's the whole point of me arguing here with u)

5)once again, more sense doesn't mean it's completely right... but it does seem more realistic (see no. 3))

now i'm definitely going offline (if u are any interested, i will be back in an hour or so :D)

i'm back

I also would like to remind u the subject of our argument was the appearence of trance in the techno section that is described on the site u mentioned and also the general relation of those two genres. That's it! The level of transparence of Ishkur's guide was not the subject I want or will discuss as it's not what my concerns were all about. But if it makes u any happier, I consider neither of the guides serious (as u call it); however, Ishkur's one makes more sense in terms of basic classification because trance and techno ARE different things.... and that's what my only point was. I don't care if u are going to hate that site or laugh at its content. It's all fine unless u keep asserting that trance is a subgenre of techno. But since u don't seem to do so, I do not really understand why the arguing is being continued at this point. Of course if u want to keep disputing, explain first what we should dispute about 'cause I don't see the essence, yet... or aren't u arguing anymore? :clown:

edit:

hehe... now that i've noticed your last post, I see that there IS no arguing anymore :D :D
never mind then :toothless :)

alright. We leave the discussion.. *carefully* :D

I see your point and I agree with you, but I still think the elektronica primer is a good and informative website. And I think 'most' of what's written there is more or less true..

It's really difficult to discuss genres I think.. especially such broad genres like techno or for example house.

WOW! This turned into an interesting discussion. :)

To Speacial K. I managed to get a laugh or two out of this site and as far as accuracy goes, for the most part i think he's right. It's very hard to find neat little genre's and sub-genre's for the amount of Electronik music that's out there.
