I partially agree besides the "no one" part. |
agreed with your opinions. Just to be clear though, I was probably paraphrasing when he said "no one." I highly doubt he thinks every last track out there is pure crap! (hopefully, anyways, because then I would really lose my faith in trance....) :( ;) |

Could say the same about Armada, Anjuna, Blackhole and Coldharbor. Even tho, at times a track peaks my interest from one of these labels.
It is what it is *shrugs*. Also the amount of time I spend each week trying to look for new tracks seems enormous, as opposed to even 5-6 years ago when it seemed quality was easier to find. Maybe I just had a lot more free time back than. |

| For the last 4 years trance has been dead to me. I don't even bother trying to look through all the crap out there anymore, even for 1 gem. I just totally stopped listening to trance. |

| What I wanna know is why trance gets singled out? There is just as much crappy techno and house, if not more. I'm guessing because trance is the cool thing to bash now a days... |

I wasnt doing it on purpose, I was simply sharing my opinion on the state of trance recently. Start your own house and techno thread if you think you need to (??) :p |

Bro face the facts. Trance is not as good as it used to be. It's cool if you still like it but there are way more new emerging house and techno talents. And very good talents at that.
It's fine if you don't like house or techno but the evolution of them has been way more interesting than trance the past few years.
The past few years I've gone to WMC or even here in NY and have see a new up & coming techno artist i've never heard of or heard of just a few times and was blown away. Sorry but I don't really think you can same the same about trance. |

Well, I have been a trance fan since 1999 and hearing a copy of Oakenfold's GU New York. But after 2004 or so, things seemed to go a bit downhill with regards to the epic trance scene. Of course I was a biiiig fan of prog (which had its own problems and struggles around this time) as well... but 2005, 2006, etc I found myself being really bored with stuff like ASOT, the big DJ mix albums, and lacking favorite songs. Starting to get disillusioned with the genre - too many vocals, everything got extremely formulaic, lots of soul-less tech trance, excessive sidechains and farty electro bass...
...then I downloaded sets by Luke Fair and Add2Basket at random, started hanging out on TA more, downloaded various TA amateur mixes, and now don't even feel compelled to seek new trance out anymore. It's all about house and techno for me. Though I can still pop in a CD like "In Search Of Sunrise 2" or "Tranceport 3" and love the older sounds... |
