I was asking, digi, because when you said "when did I", it makes the assumption that you thought I had *stopped* clubbing, which is not really the case? slowed down due to career and age? yes. stopped? not even close ;)
I didn't realize that the question "when did you start" implies that one has stopped.
Anyway, all arguments about quality aside (and there are many of them), I think this is more about you than the music. Everybody sets the bar low in the beginning because they don't know what to expect. Back then we didn't know Paul Oakenfold from Paul van Dyk. As you attend more parties, the bar gets raised higher, and things that would have been exciting or at least interesting back then don't mean much anymore.
You should be happy that you clocked in 5 years of frequent partying without getting tired. Most people I know (including me) slowed down after 2 or 3 years (none of us have "stopped"). Quality or not, people change, they grow up and take off the rose-tinted glasses.

I am just curious, when you (people) talk about trance and the sound of trance being the same and boring; who exactly are you listening to? i mean the Djs and producers. Whom are you listening to and what exactly are you considering trance now a days ?
As far as i am concerned, Trance is sounding better than ever.

Well partly for me that's my fault b/c I haven't made efforts to get into where there is GOOD trance. Should go more underground for variety in the music itself.

I think the state of trance is improving with tracks like this:

Nice track! :D
This is also a nice track mimicking the old trance sounds.

If by "improving" you mean "sounding exactly the same as what we heard in 2004 and extremely similar to what we heard in 2001", then yes, it's "improving".

everyone has a different idea of what good Trance is as well as what they want Trance to be & Where they want it to go. As long as you find the Trance music that sounds good 2 you listen to it. Music always changes & when it changes to much for you, you have to find something that suits your taste

I don't think it sounds like trance from 2004, or 2001. Maybe it has some things in common with tracks from those years but I think it sounds different and fresh.

I can find all the great trance I want but if the DJs play crappy trance over and over again, it doesn't really matter what tracks I find. When I go out, I want to hear good music...not poorly produced tracks that appeal to people that in a years time will be listening to the next great big fad.

haha no its was the "again" word that threw me off ;)
yes you definitely have a point when it comes to clubbing. Surely one's priorities change and we all grow. I dont feel the need to be in the club every weekend when there are 50000 more things I can do in NYC.
I think my complaints come more from the quality of the tracks and sets, because I still choose to listen to them on the subway/gym/whatever. (and also on the occasions that I *do* go to the club!) Seems to be very little flow in sets, and a reduced quality and creativity in tracks (which clearly will not help anyone's set, either!)
The argument that listening to the same genre repeitively may hold some truth. But at the same time, why havent I gotten sick of other genre's of music then? I listen to many types of music, but it seems the overwhelming opinion that trance is, indeed, on the decline in the last few years.
At first I thought it was just me, but then I hear the conversation EVERYWHERE...in person, on forums, in clubs, etc.....While I know this is all subjective, i brought the topic up because of the massive similarity of opinion on the subject.

I understand what you mean but no one here controls what djs play, if djs decide to play bad records or records that everyone has that shows who they are as djs.

You probobly listen to more trance than the other genres thats why you are bored off it right now. Trance changes & moves it doesnt stay stagnant
