I like Tool and classical a lot as well. When I get tired of EDM I usually take a break for a few weeks and listen to a whole lot of classical and some rock.

Theres better. Not much metal is surfaced so your gona have to dig around for it. I can give recs but I'm mainly into the heavier stuff now a days. I'll have to scroll through my list for progressive stuff. If I remeber correctly though, Tool is technical/experimental alternative metal. I don't really know too much alternative since its hated in the underground but I think I can think of a good few bands. You'd have to give me a little time to browse through my lists though.

Edit: Actually considering tool has a signature style I think considering a band would be better than another band in metal according to difference would be absurd.

I don't think anyone here has any desire to hear any more of your ty suggestions.

Pantera. :haha:

Pantera is great but I'm afraid the sound between Tool and Pantera is too different to rank in the same league. Besides the minimal hate for Pantera reasons with the spread of the crappy groove bands that formed over the years just to continue succession.

You are laughing @ Pantera? You are ing failure
Danny Ocean
want good prog rock or just good bands in general, those who put out albums that u hear all the way through?

Kaddisfly
Portugal. The Man
The Dear Hunter
Deerhunter
The Mars Volta
Fair to Midland
Minus the Bear

to name a few.

Pantera are a classic and I think there shouldn't be any hate for them but the hate for the bands that tried to be like them. But most of the people that dislike Pantera listen to heavier metal genres or just don't like metal.

I haven't read the whole thread but can someone point me in the direction of some of this really good dubstep. I love me some Burial but haven't explored much else in the genre. And I never really liked what I've heard of DnB.

I've got no idea about which genre would be the most creative, but it doesn't really matter, it's more about which genres you haven't explored yet. It seems like you've listened to quite a variety of stuff, have you checked out acid jazz? Gilles Peterson and Jazzanova etc.?
What about cosmic disco like Lindstrom and Prins Thomas?

Yes, I agree. Things only seem 'fresh' if you haven't looked at them before. I'll have a squizz at those artists. Thanks.

Basically as people have said. The innovative sound atm is in suomisaundi (experimental) and darkpsy or maybe some south african style too.
