Some good reading for Ville when he gets a free moment to browse the threads.
Even players on the same team sometimes have heated arguments and it is exactly what a team needs to get back on the main focus at hand.
looking to be in town sat. morning so will be missing this, hopefully he gets a chance to play at the parade like Kaskade did last year. |

I actually had a discussion about that part of the crowd with someone who knows them well. I won't say any names to save the innocent, lol. This convo was prob about two years ago.
But we were talking about the crowd and he straight up said most of those people care who the "DJ" is or follow them, but just care what the "music" is gonna be that night.
Which is fine by me. Long as they are having a good time and staying out of trouble. I don't think anyone needs to know who the DJ is...if the music makes them move, then awesome.
Also in this discussion was how that crowd likes to chill local on Friday nights (as from what it seems like, most live south of SF!) and head into the city on Saturday nights, so they'll only come into the city on Friday nights if there is a DJ that's obviously well known. |

Opinions are good, but this all seems a little sharp.
I know what you are saying about Ruby! You have those few people who only go there because they saw a line outside and figured there would be drugs available. I hate being asked while i am pissing "oy, got any X?" arrrggghhhh or the crazy asians that are so out of it on at least two or three kinds or drugs..... There are tourists there just cuz its cool
But i am guessing that its the people who are there for the drugs and cuz its "cool" that we are talking about, they bother me too...
|
I just read the rest of your post. Who the heck said anything about drugs? The majority of us were discussing the relevancy between knowing who the dj and its relation to the person/crowd in connecting with the atmosphere and vibe. Those kinds of things are everywhere in SF's nightlife. There have been times where people ask me for drugs at a damn restaurant.

Did those few people actually say that to you or are you just making judgmental assumptions?

Are tourists actually telling you this? or is this another judgmental assumption. Most tourist go to Ruby Skye or any club near there simply because it's in the hotel district. What difference does it make if they're a tourist? Quit stereotyping and welcome them to San Francisco
9/10 visitors I meet are extremely nice and enjoyable to be around |

| tourists are the spice of nightlife imo... i love walking past a line and hearing different foreign accents and languages from across the globe all converging upon the same destination as i to share in a bit of local culture, especially when sf represents proper that night. gui boratto shows wouldn't be the same without all the south american chicks in attendance. |

Gui loves the city!!! I believe he told me that he used to live there for some time. I think someone should take the initiative to book him and then bring him to an after party. show em the SF vibe |

Those people who go just cuz there's likely to be drugs are the peplw everyone he is talking about making the scene have a bad name. I don't care who knows what, or why they are there unless they are there cuz they figure "techno" equals opertunities to buy or sell drugs and nothing more. And yes I have been standing in line and heard some funny conversations at Ruby.
I can't even try to have an opinion about which club is better, inhabe only ever been the Heaven down in Hollywood, and to Ruby. It really shouldn't matter who is there but to me it's obvious that some djs like some venues mre, and have more fun, and get more crazy then they do at other clubs. That's what I seenthis being about, it shouldn't have anything to do whith who is there and what they know. You get problem people anywhere. New comers are good, if they dot come in to hit on girls and start , which happens anywhere |

The bigger problem is that it's obviously the vast minority who do the glowstick/light stuff. Yet, if you go by how the media represents it clubs where you see this are completely full of people doing it and doing it to enhance their experience or whatever. And that's where everyone gets the bad perception about it. Like it's a plague and think negative of clubs when they see it going on. |
