oh dear i had a high regared for your work because it proved one key point. go and play one of your tracks and 100 of other random peoples and i bet i can tell it was made by you.
not because it was well arranged or composed but because "IT WAS YOUR WORK".
and if this does not make sence then me i give up and no i'm not a retard just because i want my not to sound the same as everybody else. and just because i can teach myself how to work from scratch and go about making my own sound is not retarted. |

ok lets put it this way as you are so hell bent on reading between the lines if i was to use a piano in one off my tracks knowing that it can only generate one sound with it.
would it not then make sence to try and make something diffrent with it rather then the same tierd ?
anyone can load up a piano vst and just sit there and use all the obvious cords and notes.....fact! its not that in hard to do but why would i be happy with just that why would i not then spend time on making it my own? |

in the end weather or not its just a loop or a kick it,s your own work you found the time to make somthing thats different to anybody else. and if you apply to to the rest of your productions and the producthion prosess then your work will stand out from the rest |

Owien, believe me, you are the one who is missing the point. The fact that everybody on here is disagreeing with what you are saying should highlight that fact. And bear in mind that many who are disagreeing with you DO create many of their own sounds themselves and yet despite this, still take objection with a lot of what you say.
Oh and with regards to the bit I've quoted, when has anyone ever said that if you create your ownn drum loop, you shouldn't use it in your production? No one has said this, this is another example of you missing the point and not reading what people write.
If you want to create everything yourself then fine. Nothing wrong with that. If, for your own production method, you find you can better achieve the sound you are after and building every single element from the ground up, then great, whatever works best for you.
But in creating every element yourself, don't think that this will make your track sound more original than someone who uese samples and presets, because it simply isn't true. And please don't confuse presets with the over used recycled sounds in a lot of todays trance. This is a seperate issue and nothing to do with presets. I could make a trance track entirely from presets and have it sound nothing like a typical trance track. All I need to do is choose presets that sound original. |

I think the problem most of us have with what you are saying is that you are implying a lack of creativity for not creating every single element from the ground up. At what point does it end? How far do you take that?
If I made you an amazing meal, let's say a pasta, which tasted like nothing you had ever eaten before... and you thought it was absolutely delicious, would you change your mind if you found out I used a bag of noodles instead of kneading/cutting my own noodles from wheat which I grew in my own field which I specifically designed myself out of the soil which I thought would provide the noodles with my own recognizable taste?
Is a masterpiece painting any less creative because they didn't custom build their own brushes, canvas, easel, and paint?
Does Mozart sound like everyone else because he didn't design his own piano?
Should graphic designers quit their jobs because they use Photoshop, a proven tool, instead of designing their own? Does this really inhibit their creativity? Or does it open up doors to creativity?
The use of samples can open up doors to creativity in itself. How can you NOT understand this? I'm gonna start running out of analogies.
