Things that piss you off about your DAW

I have Ableton 8, and what pisses me off about it is that it feels so slow when it comes to making music. I thought it would go away eventually, but even after knowing the program really well for a while it's still just slow. The interface is sloppy, slow, and the piano roll is not impressive.

Ableton:
- Imported loops gets out of sync after some minutes of looping.
- I think its hard to assign knobs to midicontrollers. Might be learning that lacks.
- Havent really learned how to make beats. When i try theres some predefined presets in the sampler. It might be restrictions in the LE version which i have.

Reason:
- In order to have the sequencer in fullscreen u have to detach it from the rack and then theirs two windows which one of them (the rack) isnt fullscreen. I find it werd. I want everything in one window, minimizing and switching etc and i want the rack to be able to fill the whole screen.

Logic:
- When opening it asks what i wanna do. i just want an empty project but thats not possible, it demands at least one channel. Stupid.
- Too easy to up your synths, if its selected and u select something else in the browser then its goodbye.
- Removing synths and plugs is abit awkward too me. might be learning that lacks again, most of these daws are new to me.

Record:
- The USB-dongle and the whole authorisazation "tehcnology"!!! omg i cant almost handle it. The rest of the prog is so far sweet though, it has fixed whatever issues i had with Reason.
- A little werd way of switching between the mixer, the sequencer and the instruments, but i might get used to it.

Reaper:
- No included synths or drummachines or samples or anything really. its just a sequencer, which is why i dont use it. Its probably great for people having alot of external gear or VST or big sample packs.
- The look and feel of the included efex are terrible. Feels like your programming Java or some .
- The constant updating. Reminds me of windows.
- The lacking of updated manual

Never had this problem. When I import, I adjust the start and end points of the loop so that it takes up exactly one / two / four bars or whatever, then hit "consolidate." This seems to avoid any timing issues.

The only thing that really bugs me about Ableton is the inability to export multi-track MIDI.

Cubase SX3 sidechain method!! I hate it! it has no sense to do all that stuff for sidechain.

I see how sidechain works on others DAWs like Live, FL, Logic and feel like if the Steimberg people are playing a joke to us :P

werd. it seems that my loops really isnt long enough too actually fit a whole 8 bars and that i recognize it after time. but anyhow i dont want them to loop, i want them to retrigger whenever it is finished and the "grid" of the first kick commes again. lets say i pitch it up, i dont want it to run freely i want it to launch according to grid anyway. i like them to be launched by midi really, so that when i mute it, its not before the next launch its muted. like a real hardware sequencer!

I use Renoise. What pisses my off is NOTHING :D.
There's a small downside though, that would be the fact that it's unable to view waveforms inside the sequencer which makes placing certain elements quite hard (vocals for instance).

That's because you're using an old version of Cubase - IIRC, none of the major DAWs around at that time had built-in sidechaining and you were forced to find a workaround. You should consider upgrading to Cubase 5, or Sonar 8.5, Live 8, Logic, etc.

I have a few small gripes with Sonar and Live, but nothing that I would say pisses me off. As a relatively new Live user, who finally gave in after years of not really seeing the big deal, I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by a new discovery or two every time I fire it up. I'm still not too keen on the GUI and the lack of a dedicated console, but its workfow for MIDI-based productions makes up for it. I use it almost exclusively in arrangement mode as a sorta sketch pad for new ideas - it's just so simple and quick to get around in and try out new ideas, etc.

The only DAW I own that routinely pisses me off is Cubase. I keep buying the new version upgrades hoping that someday I'll find a reason to not hate its workflow or its ongoing stability issues, but I think I've reached my limit - no more Cubase upgrades for me.

I know...
that's the reason I have trying to clarify "Cubase SX3"

I think about the upgrade but by now is working ok, maybe when I upgrade my computer I will upgrade to Cubase 5 too.

My only small gripe with Logic is the fact that if I move or copy a region with automation, I always get the dialogue "Move or Copy Automation with Region?". Now I know I can turn it off, and I really like having the choice, and I also realize that there is really no other way to do this without a dialogue. That being said, it always pops up at the most inconvenient times.
Beatflux
Ableton-

-Lacks features which make it seems not as professional as other sequencers
-Following from my first point: they opted to go with sound design native plugins rather than typical mixing plugins
-Piano roll is really basic(even in Live 8)
