I guess we got there just at the right time. Our Bus dropped us off at 8ish. We where able to walk right in pretty much. Some people in our group who also had VIP had to wait over an our since people in GA stared a riot, moved the gates and jumped over the fences!
If they where expecting the largest crowd ever there should have been more then one way to get in!!!
The Vip area's where much bigger them last year. That was nice. I never had to wait in a long line to get a drink. The bathroom situation was pretty bad. Just 1 trailer and the Lawler stage had out houses! By the time Lawler started they where all over full. When we where walking around I did not see any bath rooms out side:conf:
I could see why they had Tomb of Doom outside. It felt like there was 100,000 people at this years event! I did miss that arena feeling though when you can look around and see the place packed and going off. The arena added extra energy to the night.
I heard horror stories of people trying to get in to the arena this year. We tired but we ended up at the exit and where told to go around. When we did there was a line to get in!! (really???) so we aborted our mission.
As for the music. Did not like Egil's set that much. For me his track selection didn't really have any flow.
JOC's set was Meh.. Due to the other events we have gone to we have seen him 4 times in 2 months. So we opted to walk around and check the other area's out.
Don't really remember much of Hernan's set or Sasha's either. (opps)
When Sasha was about to end it started to get way to crowed. Every one was pushing each way and it was hard to see. I need my space now at these huge events. So we went back to VIP to enjoy Armin's set.
Armin's set was the one I was there for and he did not disappoint at all. I loved it! However we got robbed of our hour!!!! If the event was going to end at 3 when the clocks moved back they should have advertised that it was going to end at 3 :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:
Thank god we had the bus taking us back so we did not have to deal with the parking on the way out.
Over all I had a great time at Monster. Then again I always do. I just hope they fix the kinks for next year. |
maybe all the whispering thats going on that big promoters in CALI are "CHEAPENING OUT" and "CASHING OUT" and overall milking the cow till the tit is dry are all true.
I mean, sorry to all of you who are w/ the promoters of these events (Go Ventures, Insomniac, etc etc you all know who you are) but for the prices you are charging YOU ARE NOT GIVING MUCH VALUE. SORRY.
If you go to Europe or even ASIA massive events are VERY WELL organized and provide VALUE. They are not just a en cow-milking experiment. Either you are milking the cow too much, or you are getting screwed on the back-end paying too much $ under the table (but I highly doubt that)
But the fact of the matter is that $70+ ticket prices and the ty production and organization don't go well together. SOMETHING IS WRONG. FIX IT. |

For some reason or another, i have a picture of Lawler signing what looks to be a diaper?
I recall talking to Greg and Ben, i recall having the pleasure to dance with Sarah, talking to Lawler and his manager. I kinda recall buying a monster, a water and a snickers at the radisson? Well it came up on my credit card balance anyways lol
Either way, i had a good time. Late review but everyone already mentioned the horrible lines and the disorganization everywhere. |

My PC was down, so i had to upload and post from my iPhone or friends PC's.
I dont have many, but i will post the better ones thati have. I usually have a digital camera on me, but this time just the crappy iPhone lens.
And now it makes sense about the diaper haha I think even Lawler said, "wow this is a first for me" |

My experience outside the USA is limited to Europe, but at Sensation White 2006 there were 40,000 people and I was inside within 5 minutes at 22:30 (they were advertising "more entrances," perhaps in response to complaints from previous years?). Tickets were EUR 55,00.
Two years at Trance Energy with 30,000 people and I was in within 1 minute (basically no line), waited about 3 minutes for the security pat-down. Tickets were around EUR 65,00.
Drinks, however, are a different story...your choice was either 3% alcohol beer, Eristoff Ice (energy drink with vodka), or red Eristoff vodka. The only mixers were soda or energy drink. Drinks were purchased with strip tickets, which were 4 for EUR 10,00. Two strip tickets for a beer, or three for vodka. They are also measured precisely, no more, no less...no "strong" drinks from a favorite bartender...but no tips either. :)
So yeah, the productions were amazing, but the drinks sucked. Best party in the US for me was Tiesto in Concert 2005: Best production I have seen anywhere, and stellar premium drink VIP open bar setup...but VIP tix were $200! Still, it was worth it, I'll remember that night forever! :D
For the record, I did not see any cow milking, even at Sensation White where one might expect such things. :) |
