Tiesto [Day 3] Short review. (pg. 2)

last night was my 40th tiesto gig so i have some perspective on this...
granted he didn't spin as long as promised and the speakers crapped out, but the night wasn't as bad as everyone is saying; in fact the progression of the set was better than the first night. the early part of the set was commercial pap -- the last 90 minutes were banging, with mostly different tunes from thursday. days 1 and 2 were in all likelihood better than day 3, but all three were inconsistent and nowhere near the ridiculous set @ roseland or the two 2007 hammerstein joints.
-
while i'm definitely not feeling tiesto's new productions, the muppets in the crowd were going bananas well into the night, so fair play to tiesto for giving them what they want. and he certainly seemed to enjoy the whole deal.
-
at the end of the day, i'll prob. be back for gig #41 next year, provided it's another long-ish set that's not in a club.
-
full tl coming up - shouts to roninmess, burak and jmauro |

| It's interesting how Tiesto, for us long time fans is not doing what we expected him to do...but in the other hand he's getting more and more popular and now people pay a lot of money just to say they were there, not to really appreciate the tunes and the magic of his old style when he used to be more dedicated to trance and his hardcore fans :( |

i honestly think the day of tiesto takeing you on a musical journey from the first record to the last are over
10 years ago he was not whoreing out his own for the majority of his set...hes become a pop star rather then a dj
iam glad tho that some of you had a good time at these tiesto events the past few nights
me personaly after lookin at the tl, i doubt i would have left the club with that "omg wtf did i just go threw religious experience feeling"
but hey thats just me. a few of the songs on that tl prob would have grabbed my attention, but for the most part iam just not into his new sound/productions |

I can honestly say that Night 2 out of all nights was the best night in terms of the music I like and having a good crowd to enjoy it. But all three nights had something good about them, whether it was a classic etc. If you look at the friday review thread almost everyone said it was a nice night.
Thursday was ok, better than Saturday in my opinion. Saturday was a nice night, but the set fell short of expectations. What Im trying to get at is that the nights are what you make of them, you cant put all the blame on the dj if he didnt play what you wanted. To anyone that saw tiesto at crobar or way back, tiesto just isnt the same anymore so going to these events are not going to be fun at all for you guys.
To anyone thats willing to accept something new, if you went thursday, friday or saturday you would have had fun regardless.
The crowd just wasnt the same as Friday night. Anyone that went Friday night knows how the crowd was.
All events like these should be 18+ or 21+. End of story. I wish I met the idiot who came up with the idea of an all ages event. in idiot. that was a dumb move area.
EDIT: Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thanksgiving. Things are looking way better since 3pm today.

It was nice meeting up with Nick, Burak, and Martin last night. Hope you guys had a blast. |

I dont really understand where all of you are coming from on this. Last night was 10th time seeing Tiesto (Miami, NYC, Boston, Vegas, etc) and he played one of his hardest sets I've seen, he played maybe 3 or 4 of your so called commercial tracks but other than that he absolutely ripped it...the crowd was mental! and you really had to try and listen for the sound flaw around 130 it wasnt that different at all...I think you guys complain way too much and try to over dramatize your experience...he ripped it, all 11 people i was with agree, end of story, my only problem was that he stopped so early |
you 've seen tiesto only 10 times ????:conf: :conf: and in the states only ??? no wonder you think he ripped it :o :o
Tiesto doesn't play a decent set in miami since 05 @ Space. |

Got there around 8:45 and place looked dead so I went to pound some cheap beers at this Irish pub on the corner. Went back at like 9:45 line picked up but still dead got in quick. Inside was somewhat packed. Nick (the opener) dropped a diff. style of music not bad but crowd was to much into Tiesto. Tiesto got on 30min early at 10:30. Intro was amazing loved it !
I also heard the speakers pop around 1:30. For a second I thought my ears just got ed from being too close to that big ass speaker. I only went to Saturdays gig so I can't compare it to thursday and friday. I was digging that tune that he dropped which had a spanish guitar (if anyone knows the ID let me know !) Last time I saw Tiesto was in 06 and his style of music def. changed. It will never compare to that epic night at Crobar. For the last hour of the show I decided to hit the third floor and get a different perspective. Being up front just didn't do it for me anymore, I was sweaty needed some air and my legs were shot, not to mention a few sketchy people.
In all great night for me, brought me back a Tiesto poster from the few they had posted on the walls and great seeing jmauro (hope everything works out with your wallet situation dude, ing sucks!)
Also that tshirt he was wearing ing awesome. if anyone knows the brand shoot it up. I think it was something with K&M ?

| I think it is safe to say that tiesto's music changed because his audience changed. |

For a second I thought my ears were f*cked as well from being front, towards the side near the speaker for so long... But after going to these shows to enjoy trance, build-ups, transitions, bass lines etc. I realized the speakers were canked out. So disappointing.
And for those people who thought he ripped/killed it... really? And the crowd was anything BUT mental. Out of all the times i've seen him, that was the least amount of Trance I have EVER heard from him. His style completely changed from a few years ago, and his audience DEFINATELY changed. Whoever said he became a pop star was totally right... |

yeaaa. u know, the ONE yr i was able to make it down to WMC (2005)...I bought that SPACE PASS so that i could hear him at SPACE for my first "Magic Musik" night...sadly i wasn't able to make it IN the door cuz i got there just as SPACE shut its doors. I was soo disappointed. His Crobar sets in later yrs just never did it for me. ugh.
Last great show (that i attended in person anyway) was Glow @ Insomnia November 2003 in Washington D.C.
ive heard Tiesto abroad were the BEST experiences, particularly TIC 1 & 2. With the 2007 EOL Hammerstein shows (as well as the event at LOVE@DC outdoors -- all of which i totally regret missing out on). Now that i hear hes got a new style and is trying to be more mainstream, i doubt the same epicness will ever be experienced, ever. Sad...:(
Magik Musik + ISOS eras FTW <3
just my IMO |
