lol on the lobster and mcdonalds comparison :D, but you got exactly what i was trying to say. and i understand peoples frustrations with his recent sets, but im part of another generation that didnt experience the past sets everyone talks about, and i cant limit myself by expecting it to come back, it past, i missed it, and i seem to be enjoying whats going on right now. i hope tiesto will play a set that will satisfy all of his older fans who have or attended a tiesto concert in the past, i just hope he does one day, but i just cant go into a tiesto concert today expecting it to happen.
I like all of your posts... someone honest. All that REALLY matters is having fun and enjoying yourself at these shows. No matter what music, crowd, atmosphere - it's about yourself. Although I still had a GREAT time with my buddies and gals, It's still not the same. Of course i'll be there hammered and dancing balls deep, all out - to the music just because I support Tiesto since i've been listening to him for years... It's just the fact that it's a different atmostphere this time around [From Hammerstein '07] and it was a great disappointment to me. But to my friends who didn't know any of his sets, his style, nor the music, they had a blast.
I'll be honest, not too many people know i'm 20 Years Old on this message board. IDK how old you are, but i'm sure i'm probably in the same "generation" as you mentioned, but I just feel that I'm a little more cultured in the sense of trance itself being since it's been years. I started listening to EDM, mainly trance when I was 12 years old in 7th grade. My cousin taught me the ropes since he used to be and old time raver back in the days of EXIT and Crobar, etc. And ever since, i've only listened to Trance.
I didn't make this thread to "DESTROY" Tiesto and his productions lately... but more to get people's attention in a sense that, "Whoa...where is trance heading? Why are styles changing? Why can't it all be like it was years ago with pure trance being dropped?..."
But others are also right... there are new underground DJs coming out, other DJs still playing amazing trance and so forth. You just gotta know. I'm open to all DJs now that my 21st Bday is around the corner in April, so I hope to be more places, meeting more people and mainly enjoying myself while I can... and that's all I gotta say.

Same here again lol im also 20, except I started listening to trance by mistake when I was 7 because my neighbor who was in hs liked to blast it downstairs every weekend while they were either cleaning/vacuuming their apt or doing chores or whatever. Rude wakeup call every Saturday morning for about a year. I didnt get into Tiesto himself until 2002 when I lived in Orlando and some radio station I listened to played Ayla DJ Sammy ppk darude etc.. and occasionally Tiesto Traffic and last I heard before moving to NJ was Silence but thats all I remember. major credit to 95.3 party, directv, napster. and my older cousins from colombia like trance so thats my influence.

I hear this all the time, and trust me, I wish I went to events back in the day, Ive heard the sets, I used to hear the live club feed on the radio when I was younger, and once I started going to events I was disappointed at first. But I found a way to get over it by listening to underground DJs that still produce trance. Look I cant wait to turn 21 as well so I can go out to more events.
I couldnt agree more with your entire post.

this may be a good thing - you'll shift your attention to other acts, explore new ground or shall I say UNDERGROUND. the whole edm culture started around ppl worshiping the music, not the dj. So, time to go back to the roots. There are plenty of up and coming acts that deserve closer look - just open your ears and try something new.. Support those newbies, you might like what you find.
:tongue2 :toothless
You're right !!! Thank GOD for Massive Events and the great parties they throw @ Love.

Same influences as you for the most part... But the top song that I vividly remember playing over and over again was Robert Miles - Children, that they had playing on the radio... couldn't get enough haha

Honestly, after I got through the bulk of his new productions which was about the first twenty songs, I thought it got pretty good, despite the speaker blowing.
