if you take out Tiesto's remixes and productions, you'd never know this was a set from him.
honestly, there's tracks I like that aren't trance that he's dropping, but as a fan of his 03 to 07 period, this isn't what I want to hear from him. Maybe other djs, but not Tiesto.
PS, his new album is horrible. He is hitting up my town for the first time on this tour so I will go and get wasted and laugh a lot.

I don't try to be an ass and sound stuck up but i think the good old days of TRANCE are over and it saddens me to say it:( Tiesto , Ferry , Armin , PVD are all playing mostly commercial stuff in their sets and guess what??? the new generation LOVES IT and they are more popular and making good $$$ out of it so they are not interested in going back and play those great trance records that we couldn't id. It makes mad because sometimes I don't enjoy myself in parties like this cherishing and thinking about those good sets at Roxy , Exit , Twilo , even Crobar and Spirit:mad: :( |
this may be a good thing - you'll shift your attention to other acts, explore new ground or shall I say UNDERGROUND. the whole edm culture started around ppl worshiping the music, not the dj. So, time to go back to the roots. There are plenty of up and coming acts that deserve closer look - just open your ears and try something new.. Support those newbies, you might like what you find. |

Im one of those people that still enjoy Tiesto events, and I still believe he takes me on a journey (some days more than others, example last Friday). I dont know, it must be the generational divide.
Look, I would have done anything to be at one of the gigs you guys had a chance to attend back in the day. But I came in to Tiesto right in between his switching of styles, so I really enjoy the new material he puts on club life.
If I were to just stand there and wait for him to drop a set from 2000-2004 I would have had a miserable time. I went to the event to have a good time and thats what happened.
If that makes me a noob, w.e, I like it. |

and teh tiestor was banging on pots and pans while dropping mad lead lines on his cassiotone + speak'n'spell, yo. He started out with 2 gramophones, I'll have you know. Back in the day "Direct drive" meant you drove straight to the club. Those were the days - drugs were druggy, sluts were slutty and gays.... well, they were gay. :toothless: |

true i kinda get what your saying
its just very hard for me and other people to look at that t/l from this past weekend and just see the same songs and all his productions
you hit the nail on the head with if i would have went there and been waiting for a epic set like back in the day. its like going from eating lobster to eating mcdonalds filet of fish , even tho his new years set was to me a banging set (kicks his own ass that he didnt go to it grrrrr)
but yea i get what your saying about not being able to see him back in the day, and iam the same way about things
like i wish i would have went to twilo when i was younger, or saw more dj's etc etc
i guess the times have changed and if you want to go out and listen to the tiesto of today and you have a good time then hey man thats what its all about and iam happy for you and you shouldnt feel like a noob
i know i should start to look towards the future rather the past, but lookin at this past weekends tl i honestly dont think i would have had a good time and got into his set
i really hope tho in the future i will be able to make it back out to see tiesto and leave the club with the sense of i had a awesome time |

lol on the lobster and mcdonalds comparison :D, but you got exactly what i was trying to say. and i understand peoples frustrations with his recent sets, but im part of another generation that didnt experience the past sets everyone talks about, and i cant limit myself by expecting it to come back, it past, i missed it, and i seem to be enjoying whats going on right now. i hope tiesto will play a set that will satisfy all of his older fans who have or attended a tiesto concert in the past, i just hope he does one day, but i just cant go into a tiesto concert today expecting it to happen or be surprised it didnt happen. |
